I'm currently 6'0 about 285. I'm obviously trying to lose weight, but want to start back up on weiht lifing along with my cardio. Will I just make myself bulkier looking, and gain weight, or will the weights help me lose weight along with the cardio? Thank You.

the diet determines the size of the muscles and ultimately the shape of the body. exercise only provides the stimulus to the muscles and CNS.

you need to get your body fat checked then you can design a proper diet for your goals.

It depends on how easy it is to lift the weight. If it's very easy and you can do more than 8-12 repetitions with the weight, you won't gain muscle, but it won't help you very much with cardio either. You need to do sustained exercise, not just a couple of sets. It's good to build some muscle if you want to lose weight, so some weight lifting is good, but frankly I would concentrate your time on walking and other low-impact cardio. The best combination is cardio, weights and eat healthy. Try www.weightwatchers.com for more info.

Weightlifting is actually pretty good for losing weight, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn to maintain it. If you are looking for a free, online service to track your diet, I highly recommend Fitday.com.

muscle weighs more than fat, so I guess you should make a good diet plan
