I don't think you'll lose a lot of weight by doing the same thing over and over so much. You need to diversify your workout routine a bit.

Our bodies do not spot-reduce body weight from doing tummy crunches, or any other exercise.. If you are not used to exercising, doing that many crunches would have no impact on your "weight", but it might make you "wait" for recovery since you'd likely be very sore, and possibly injured.

A cardiovascular exercise(like walking, biking, running, etc) mixed with a little bit of strength training will be your best bet bet for losing weight safely and effectively, along with taking care in what you eat. Spend more calories than you take in and do this consistently and you'll lose weight.

How long, how hard and which cardio exercise you choose depends on your fitness level.
1)Pick too difficult an exercise and you'll be frustrated and possibly hurt...Too easy and you won't see results because the body isn't challenged.
2)If you don't like the exercise you chose, you just won't do it. So pick some cardio that you like to do, have the time for, and engages the whole body.
3)Mix it up with a little strength training and you'll be on your way to losing your weight.
4)In addition, also watch what you eat, being aware of calories taken in as compared to those you spend throughout your day.

Here's an example:
Ask yourself can you do a fitness walk for 30 min. 3x /week to start. If the answer is no, break it down into smaller portions such as 10-15 min. spread throughout the day.
If you can do more, great! As long as you pay attention to how you feel.
Do some strength training---lifting the weight slowly and deliberately and lowering the weight just as slowly.
Too many times people just rush through their exercise. Take at least 3 seconds up and down. If you're sore for more than 2 days after exercising, you may have overdone it. Hope this helps!
Good Luck! May you Be Fit, Live well and Prosper!

You lose weight by burning more calories than you take in. So, you really want to know how many calories you burn by doing crunches. The answer is that it actually depends based on your weight and how vigorously you do them! From this list of activities, it looks like you could burn anywhere from 266 to 388 calories by doing situps for a whole hour. I don't think that you'll be doing an hour of situps, 200 crunches sounds more like 15 minutes. So you'd probably burn about 80 extra calories a day -- that isn't a lot! You usually burn about 2,000 calories a day from regular activity (walking, sleeping, sitting, functioning, etc.), so 80 isn't going to matter a lot.

What's more is that the calories you do burn from situps won't be fat: you need to exercise for more than 30 minutes to start actually burning fat off your body. What's even worse is that exercising a certain area (like the stomach) doesn't burn fat from that area! Your body will decide on its own where the fat is removed from.

So how can you lose weight? Simple: Eat less and exercise more. Switch to leaner foods, don't snack, and don't eat any candy or other sugary food or drink. Start jogging or swimming for about 30 to 60 minutes 3-4 times a week. See your doctor or a fitness professional if you can to work out a plan.

If you ATTEMPTED 200 crunches in one day, you would be seriously overtraining. You not be able to get up for the next week or so. Try 3 sets of 25. Also try different ab exercises.

Depends on how much you eat, how many calories what your eating have, what type of crunches, your metabolism, etc. There are a lot of factors. Your mom might want to start tracking her calorie intake and find out her BMI so that can effectively monitor her weight loss.

It really depends on the person. How much are you eating a day? Are you taking in all the calories your burning?

More importantly, what's your overall fitness level? Someone who weighs 300 pounds and doesn't work out will lose much more weight than a person who weighs 100 pounds and works out all of the time.

You would have very toned tummy muscles but you may not lose weight or the body fat covering your toned muscles

You need to use a combination of exercise and diet

do 200 crunches every hour like... 5 times throughout the day and you'll get a serious perfection. OH YEAH and here's an extra tip

flex your lower belly while doing it... and every 20 or so, raise your head and hold it there... come up all the way like a sit up, then come back down.

good luck on that :D dont forget to eat healthy

if thats the only thing you are gona do then you are gona actually gain weight - crunches only build muscle, they do NOT burn any fat.
the only fat burning exercise is cardio - burns fat all over body - you cant spot reduce body fat.
