If its only teeth and only food then U may as well go potty in public or pick out your nose! If U want to keep doing it go ahead, but it grosses most people out!

Covering your mouth with your hand whilst doing it is GROSS also. May as well cover your nose and pick it at the table too.

I agree with you if they are using their fingers to pick their teeth. If they are using a toothpick it is o.k., but also annoying.
They should excuse themselves, go to the rest room/

As far as eating what comes out, I am sure they don't take it our of their mouths, look at it and then eat it. I don't understand you? What should they do with it? Put it on their napkin, or dish? If it is small enough to get stuck between their teeth they are not eating it, it just dissolves or stays in their mouth. Did you ever see someone chew it, and then swallow it. That is what the meaning of eating is.

Why are you making an issue out of a tissue? I for one would not use a toothpick at the table either. But you are really blowing the whole issue out of proportion.

When people eat their food with their hands, that is what is really disgusting. Or if they would pick their nose, look at it, and then put it in their mouth.

OK here come the thumbs down.

I don't disagree, it is not a pleasurable experience. But some people just plain don't think. Yes, they should excuse themselves and go to the restroom, pick their teeth, even brush their teeth. But I bet those same people eat with their elbows on the table, chew with their mouth open, talk with their mouth full, and don't use their napkin. Manners are taught and reinforced by the parents and the extended family; but I have heard many family (not always rich ones) are sending their kids to etiquette to learn those exact manner.

Because, some people just don't have good etiquette!! I agree that it is a manner that is disgusting!! I think too, that they may not even be aware that they are doing it. The best thing to do, try not to look. If it's someone that you know relatively well, tell them and encourage them to use a toothpick. Hopefully, they won't do the same thing with the toothpick !!

Well, it is annoying to have something stuck in your teeth (if you have any, what a memory) and as for eating it, it may not be considered etiquette but hey, it was places in that orifice to be eaten in the first place, so why is it so disgusting to put something where it was originally meant for, not like they picked their nose and ate it, is it?

Unfortunately, when children are raised, they're not all raised by the same manners-concious parents that you may have had. The best answer to this question is that he/she may feel that picking their teeth is perfectly appropriate. If that person is your friend and it bothers you, tell them and explain things from your perspective. If you don't know the person, it's best not to raise the issue unless you enjoy conflict.
Take care!

I agree, it's really really nasty!!! If you need to pick your teeth, go to the restroom and check yourself in the mirror. Sucking teeth is just as bad though, because you know all that ground up stuff is going down the gullet. Why are people so gross?!?

Just poor table manners. Never taught while growing up. I feel the same way about wearing baseball caps and sleeveless t-shirts (Men) at the table.

It is very disgusting and everyone seems to notice if they don't do it themselves. They do it because to obviously get food out of their teeth but at lest go to the bathroom and do it.
