If one feels that an evil spirit persists, you can invoke, in the name of the blood of Jesus, for it to leave you alone. An evil spirit will put doubts in your mind as to the measure of your faith, or will put questions in your heart regarding your lack of worthiness to be loved by God. Evil spirits do exist as surely as Angels do. Rebuke evil by its antithesis, it's total opposite on the spiritual spectrum. That being through the Word of God, as you do have the power to cast out demons by invoking the blood of Christ. Have the faith even the size of a mustard seed and you will be able to move mountains, including casting out evil spirits. This is a serious response to your most serious question. God bless.

it's really a feeling. I agree with you, spirits do exist. I know this because I can feel them. I've never seen them but I have sensed them countless times. Whenever a "bad" spirit is near I always feel a sense of foreboding, or I'll feel afraid, or just plain uneasy. It all depends on how "bad" the spirit is. However if the spirit is "good" then I feel a sense of peace or love, or even playfulness if it is a child spirit. Most people upon first seeing a spirit are automatically frightened. This is natural but you can't go on your first impression. (if first impressions were always right then ALL spirits would be "bad" including our own.) The next time you see or feel this spirit just stop for a moment. You might feel frightened but that is natural. Take a few deep breaths and quiet your mind. Then see what feelings arise within you. Don't try to influence them or focus on any particular one just experience them. If the fear continues to become more intense instead of dissipating or you feel a sense of foreboding, etc. then it's probably a "bad" spirit. However if you feel a sense of peace or love, etc. then it's probably a "good" one. Also the intensity at which you feel these emotions will give you a hint as to how powerful the spirit is. A word of warning... if you feel your fear increase to the point where it feels like a panic attack or some other extreme close yourself off. You can do this by visualizing your energy coming back into your body or by visualizing a glowing "shield" around you or whatever works for you. But if what you feel goes to an extreme in the negative direction you do not want to leave yourself open to such a powerful "bad" spirit (for the same reason you wouldn't leave your door unlocked in a bad neighborhood). Though I wouldn't worry too much as the majority of spirits are harmless. The main thing is to trust your feelings, your heart, your instincts, or whatever you may like to call them.

"Rich" has it right on. In the Name of Jesus devil and his demonic entourage tremble. Buried under the blood of Jesus, one has imputed Christ's power of dominion over these evil spirits. Rebuking the spirits is effective when one is saved by the blood of the Lamb, free of unconfessed sin and unforgiveness/bitterness.
I allow the Holy Spirit to guide me on this one. I usually can tell by their countenance. The possessed ones usually lie about something or someone that is Christ-filled, just to plant doubt. That's how the enemy works. He rebukes those that follow Jesus. The genuine Christ followers have a meek countenance (powerful control of emotions/flesh) that is obvious to spot by other believers.
When in doubt, test the spirit in the name of Jesus.
May God Bless You Abundantly!

I visualized Jesus, faintly once and more clearly later. No converstation, just a sense of love or companionship the first time and protection the second time. The demons were small, maybe 10 inches and laughing at me. No doubt there.

Calm, peace, happiness, good, light, wanting to be around others vs..
Darkness, confusion, uncertainty, bad, sad, destructive, loneliness.
If they offer a hand and you feel nothing, that is not good (deception).
If you offer a hand and they do not, you know they would not try to deceive you by trying to shake your hand without one.

Listen to what they tell you and see what pleases them. They will try to lead you astray.
The only good spirit is the Holy Spirit. He can bring you closer to God and open your eyes and mind to what God wants of you..

I dunno about any kind of 'tests'...but I think if you can actually sense a presence, you can feel if it's good or bad.
