I am in Dallas, TX looking to get reped by an agent but I have also heard of many opportunities opening up for actors in New Mexico. I am thinking it would be good to become SAG Eligible in a movie filming in NM (since ecomonic incentives are great for film there) and it's not too far from TX. But I am thinking I would need to get reped by an agent in NM too. Thoughts?

I currently have no agent, either here or there for clarification. I have been in ongoing acting classes (to answer the 2nd responder) since January and I have already been in three films in that time, all non-union.

Look over the contract you've signed with your current agent first. Make sure you won't be in violation of any terms because make no mistake, he/she will sue you if you violate those terms and you will end up paying more than it was worth.

That being said, you absolutely may have more than one agent, but it can be tricky. Why can't your agent still represent you for the deal in NM? Agents send clients all over the world, not to mention a state or two over :-) It can be done! Why don't you talk to him/her unless you were already thinking about leaving the agency and getting new representation because you don't feel it's adequate. The reasons for having more than one agent is usually different types of representation (ie one for theatrical, one for commercial, one for modeling) not a job in another state.

Your current agent can still rep you for this. My only thinking is why didn't he/she find you this job? Set up a meeting and talk to your agent asap.

Good luck!

I think you have no chance of doing what you are trying to do.
You can't just fly around auditioning. If you don't live in a state you won't get rep in that state. And you think it's easy to get a part in a film? You have A LOT to learn. Persue an acting career if you want, but you have to learn the ropes first. Before you learn the ropes, you have to learn how to act. Have you taken any classes yet? Worry about that before you worry about becoming SAG eligible.

As many as you want. Some agents will require exclusivity, some will request it; but since you're going to another state, I don't see any problem.
