I've tried lots of medication for it I'm either allergic to them, or I develop an amunity. Right now I'm taking about 3-4 nexium a DAY and here i sit with the pain.
My ears hurt, my back gets tense and soar, Chest pain, and MASSIVE heartburn. Almost every day. (a week of this, then a week of mild comfort off and on)
My doctor says I SHOULD NOT have corrective surgery.. that I should wait. But I've been dealing with this for 7 years now.

I've tried so many "tricks". elevated my bed so I'm slightly sitting up. Avoiding soda's, spicy foods... I had a carrot today, and It gave me intense heartburn.
It hurts SO bad.
If you have had the same thing, can you tell me what works for you? Or If you had the surgery, was it worth it? Should I get a 2nd opinion about the surgery?

Yes get a second opinion. Unless there is a medical reason that you cannot have surgery there should be no reason why the doc would not fix your hiatal hernia now. See someone else and get it fixed.

You're positive it's a Hiatal Hernia, and not gallbladder? There symptoms are similar, but if you know for sure and have tried so much other stuff, I think it's time to explore the surgery angle. My mom has the hernia also, and she too has tried everything. She also gets tremondous gas and pressure, and just belches very loudly. She said it helps relieve the pressure in her chest. Get a second opinion if you don't feel comfortable with the current doc, does he say why you should wait? Are you symtoms horrible? Sounds like you are pretty miserable to me, and after seven years, I think you have "paid your dues", and convential treatment is exhausted.

look at any other meds you take that might up set your stomic. I also have stomic problems and I have found I can't eat Cinnamon or drink whole milk. I used to go through a big bottle of Maalox a day. Now I take pepsid one a day after changing my diet.

HELLO,
AFTER 7 YEARS YOUR CURRENT DCTOR IS A MORON!
STOP SUFFERING AND GET A SECOND OPINION FROM A GASTROENTEROLOGIST.
SURGERY MAY BE NEEDED FOR THIS ONE. GOOD LUCK.
