i have heard lots on this one. I do not think Jesus was white, but I don´t think he was black. Brown or dark brown yes. I have met dark people that look black but not African. had woolly hair but not like the African people.
What am i saying? in the beginning, there was only one color. Until Kane killed Able, then he was marked. after the great flood, only one color again, until one of Noah's sons was making fun of him when Noah was drunk. That son was marked, along with his immediate family. I do believe the mark was the Black mark, making the black people. that is only my opinion.
now, there are black and white. after a while, the two mixed, making brown-jews? just my opinion, I have been told i was wrong, but think about it, how else could you explain?
Jesus was quarter jew, quarter gentile-white, and half God. Jew "i believe was half black and half white" which means He, Jesus came to earth as a member of all races, there was only three, black white and brown-the brown was half black and half white. He was the King of Kings and the Priest of Priests. the Jews were of the chosen race, they had all the teachings.
as for what they wore? most of the time they really did not know where they were sleeping at night, so they wore their bed rolls as robes. They all had long hair and did not shave.
when i was younger i went to a lot of Bible studies. here for the past several years i have not done much, but i am trying to get back in to it, so i am not going to quote scripture much. I do know some where in the Bible there is a verse that says "do not shave your head and make like the dead" I have asked several preachers about that and never recieved an answer.
I hope i was a help :)

I believe He will be dark skin, just like the people that live in that region. I believe He will be pleasing to everyone that worship Him, if His hair is long or short. I believe His eyes will be dark.
Mostly all men from that time dressed in a long outfit that wrapped around them.
I'm not aware of an exact source as to how they dressed.
Keep in mind He was only here on earth for 31/2 years and never traveled more than 100 or 200 miles away from home. But yet, they still speak of Him today He went about.preaching and teaching the word of God and the road to forgiveness and salvation.

History channel did this months ago. I am sure you can find it on their website.
Where does it say "men must have short hair" ?
I think you have been misinformed.
It never said that.
It does however say (something to the effect of) men should dress like men and women like women. That means that women are to wear women's clothing, (bought in their department) and men the same. No where does it say women wear dresses and men pants. ( men didn't even wear pants when it was written.)
And if men are supposed to have short hair, then Sampson must be in hell tonight, even though God ordered his mother and him to NEVER CUT HIS HAIR.
Ireally with you people would not parrot another person's words when preaching. Learn your Bible for yourself, then preach it.
Jesus was Jewish. His name was Yeshua (the Jewish pronunciation) and he did have long hair and wear a "skirt" yes, he was quite the fashonista. It was hot, dirty and he had a lot of work to do in three years. That is why he didn't go to church, except to berate the preachers and tell them how bad they were. He aso doidn't waste time with so much nonsense. He told the truth and that was that.
And who told you the Holy Spirit explained all this? God inspired man to write the words. GOD not his Comforter. Not His Son. Not His Prophets. INSIPRED. Not wrote, not dictated. He gave the ideas. Many of the new testements are written long after Crist was crucified. And Revelation was about the Romans, not the End Days. Though it could have easily been a double meaning.
Learn, study, repeat.

Isaiah 53:2: "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form or comeliness and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him".
I think he looked like an ordinary Middle Eastern/Jewish man of his day. Since he was Torah observant, he probably wore his beard and peyos the way they did back then. From the way people seemed surprised when they met him (Herod and some others seemed to be saying "THIS is the guy everyone is fussing about?!") and from the above prophecy, I'd guess he wasn't all that physically attractive.
What he did NOT look like is some kind of Norwegian hippie, like most of the classic European paintings have him. LOL.
Still, he's beautiful to me.

People in the middle east are dark complexioned and probably had long hair . Somehow the Artists depicted Jesus as light complexioned with blue eyes and blond hair. Probably the artist was trying to show the beauty of Jesus character.

Why do people play him in movies and plays and pictures and such as having him with long silky hair and white skin?Come on people WAKE UP. Jesus is NOT white. Brown skin, Brown eyes, Dark wavy, curly hair. Americans try to make it seem like he looks like an American. I just don't understand that at ALL. So frustrating.
And Yes, I am American.

Stare at a blank canvas, that's what Jesus looked like, because there is no historical record of him existing. The only work from "his time" that indicates he existed is the New Testament, which has so many inconsistencies that it has to be a work of fiction. He looked like King Arthur and Zeus, whatever your imagination believes him to look like.

I don't think he was like those picture we see everywhere, and I think the short hair and so was put in the bible by the church, just like they did when they said "shall not suffer a witch to live"to make us believe in only one religion.I believe Jesus walked the earth to teach us some morals.Jesus probably looked like the middle Eastern do now.
(Many blessings)

Darker skin than a lot of paintings show, given the fact he lived in the Middle East.
Each race sees a Christ that looks like them...makes them feel more connected.
