I have been dealing with OCD since I was about eight years old. It has gotten better over the years. Medication can help, but OCD is an anxiety disorder, so if you can deal with whatever is causing you a lot of stress, you will find that your OCD will get better. I used to take medication for it, but I haven't taken any in over 10 years now. I don't need medicine anymore, but I still notice that when I get really stressed out I start to count everything in sight. I have learned to stop myself and think about what's bothering me and try to fix that, and then I don't want to count as much. It's a struggle, but like I said, after you learn how to handle anxiety, OCD becomes very manageable and you start to look at your symptoms as something good, because they're telling you that you are under stress and you need to take care of yourself. It took me time to learn how to do this, and until I learned I took medication and saw a psychologist to figure out how to control it. Good luck.

I used to be obsessive about cracks in the sidewalk or lines in a carpet.

I would do everything possible not to walk on any cracks or lines and I was getting worse and worse. I hated it!

My mom found this physician, Dr. Joyce Brooks and she has been amazing! Her website has lots of tips at http://www.grabsometips.com/obsessive-disorder.html for any obsessive disorder.

Read her latest book on her website. You can download it to your computer.

I'm sure she can help you with some simple and effective solutions without spending a lot of money on expensive medications.

I hope this will help you! :o)
