Associated with each cherubim were wheels whose appearance was explained more in terms of function than of mechanical construction. The wheels gave mobility to the chariot-throne of God. God appeared to Ezekiel in imagery of movement and action that presented him as both transcendent and immanent. The whole picture of the cherubim, the chariot, and the throne was associated intimately with an affirmation of the presence of God.

The ark of the covenant in the holy of holies was considered the throne of Yahweh or the stool of his feet (cf. 4:37, where the “place of my throne” was used to designate the place where the ark was kept in the holy of holies). Some representations of the ark have portrayed it as a box with wheels. The wheels Ezekiel saw were the lowest part of the chariot-throne and sat on the ground below the cherubim (v. 15). Their appearance was like chrysolite, which may have been a topaz or other semiprecious stone. Each wheel was actually two in one, with one apparently set inside the other at right angles.

This arrangement allowed movement of the throne-platform in any direction. The circumference or outer rim of the wheels was described as high and awesome with the outer edge of the rims inset with “eyes” (v. 18). When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved, activated by the Spirit. The Spirit gave direction to the wheels through direct knowledge and access to the will of God. Verse 21 is a recap of vv. 19–20 and forms a conclusion to the section, emphasizing the unity and coordination between the cherubim, the wheels, the Spirit, and the throne-chariot.

Ezekiel’s imagery vividly represents the basic characteristics of the divine nature. Yahweh was seated above the cherubim on his throne-chariot as the Lord of creation. The mobility of the wheels suggests the omnipresence of God; the eyes, his omniscience; the elevated position, his omnipotence.

You'll find some specific manifestations of the same phenomenon after Noah's flood, in Exodus at Mt. Sinai, in Kings with Elijah, in Bethlehem at Christmas, at the River Jordan when Jesus was baptized, at the transfiguration, at the crucifixion, at Pentecost, and in Revelation 11 &12.

Study each of these accounts and then make up your own mind.

The best explanation I got when I asked that question was from somebody claiming to be a theologist. They pointed out that Ezekial was describing the political organization of Heaven under God. It was just a dream vision.
Oh Well. It think there are thousands of interpretations on that one too.

And the spirit was in the Wheel.

I have read Alien Info, where they developed an Engine (space drive of course) that had Intelligence built into that thing. You touch it and it knows your there. To show you something, it was molded in Deep Space, free from almost any Gravity so that when the Metal was Heated to melting point, part of the Engine was formed almost Perfectly Round.

Aliens= Demons in my Book.
They musta' copied GOD in making that thing.

Ditto.....GOD gave Men Knowledge of how to form Metals in the Old Testament
