why cant they see me for who i am not just a colour?

yes i am a black man , no i am not a drug dealer, i don't live in the ghetto , i grew up in the suburbs, i don't have kids, i don't play basketball all day, i don't listen to hop music only, i listen to country, opera, funk, and alternative, no i cannot rap, no i do not speak ebonics,my girlfriend is white she is not
a whore and i love her deeply, my hair is black my haritage is black and my skin is as black coffe, i am proud to be black,

my littlle rant was to show yahoo awnsers that they should stop sterotyping black people, and see us fo being people

i saw a question about white girls and awnserd it and some guy said black men are all drug dealers and beat white girls up

What I believe is that white men see that black men are trying to make something out of themselves now and are afraid that black men will strive to work hard and put them out of the position they are in. Other races call black people names to get under their skin because they know most black people will react and try to cause the same pain they are feeling inside such as hurt and disrespect. I'm black and I don't really appreciate how white people treat black people either. I walk inside a store and i just happen to pass through the alcohol aisle and the lady up front immediately comes back there to keep an eye on me. I'm not a thief. Nothing I own is stolen. I grew up in the "hood" but I work for lowes for a living for the past 2 1/2 years. Its crazy how people see skin color and start thinking about about sterotypes rather getting to know a person for who they are.

Some folks pay attention to skin color, some don't. That's just the way life is. Things are changing, but too slowly for a lot of people.

Just to let you know, I'm white, my lady is black (although I forget sometimes until she reminds me.). We have been together several years. So I guess you and I even things up again.

All we can do is live life as it comes to us, change what we can, and ignore the rest.

Hi! I totally agree with you! I cannot believe that people are still stereotyping other people for their colour. Most of the best people in the world are Negro. I saw the same thing on oprah! You should just egnore those people cause there so stupid! THey are just jelous that a black man can be so beautiful.....it really stupid. I have the same thing happening to me at school. I am half black and half white and my friends make fun of me because I talk white but at home my mother makes fun of me because i dont talk white it'sstupid.....RESPECT UR BLACK HERITAGE! yay.

WHAT IN THE WORLD DID YAHOO ANSWERS DO TO STEREOTYPE YOU? no one really gives a crap. you're crazy and the music you listen to does not define who you are. if so, my skin would be hot pink because I listen to Shakira all day. if you're not even going to say what they did, you should just shut up. i'm not going to say there isn't racism in this world, but i hate it when people just hone in one little fact and get all hung up about it and won't shut up.

are you going to deny the fact that the MAJORITY of us blacks like rap? and that we score lower on Standardized tests too? THAT is how we are, and if you are black and want to be like us, you just gotta accept it. you don't GOTTA like rap, you dont have to do it, but stop complaining. generalizations are just that: they just make a general statement but don't include every single little detail. YOU are just one of those little details, but if you are black, that you are going to be generalized with the other blacks. just accept it. no one's forcing you to change, but YOU in turn can't force others to change how they view you.

i hate it when people stereotype other people....
Just because one person from a different race does it doesn't mean the whole race is the same as the person.
