Join a Choir...my boss did it and he's getting pretty good at it. Also take a music course in singing if you can. You can also practice with one of those thing's that you blow air into (I forget the name) to find out what middle c is, etc...it's mostly relative, but I'm sure you get the point.

Take private lessons or join a community choir or something.
Protect your vocal chords. Don't scream or make weird noises because that can damage your vocal chords in the long run. If you want to become better, you can't be damaged.
Do warm-ups once a day. Do a few scales and then sing a random song just to get the feel for it. Start off singing at the lowest note you can and then slowly gradually move up the scale until you can't hit a certain note anymore. You'll then know you singing range.
These are things my choir director has taught us so hopefully they will help

Well outside of taking choir in H.S. or private lessons, I have a suggestion...
I really like singing and wanted to just be able to hold my own at a karaoke bar. I started singing along more often with the radio: in the shower, the car, at home. Not just my favorite songs but ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, really belting it out. I can tell that it's really improved my range and tone - my voice doesn't crack half as often on high notes anymore. Sounds simple but it works.

You have got to take classes. You want positive feedback. You want any individual to let you know what you must upgrade. You desire a voice instructor considering the fact that their ear is proficient to grasp what sounds well and what does not. And a voice instructor can particularly convey up your trust to your signing. If you do not take classes or sing in entrance of any person, then you're going to most effective sing for your self till you're making the selection to difference that. You have got to consider approximately what are your pursuits as a singer. Do you aspire to sing in entrance of 10,000 humans and be a popular singer or do you desire to sing most effective to your self? Find a voice instructor and take a lesson. That is the pleasant factor you'll be able to do. I

just keep practicing.. also singing lessons just teach u the basics but i think if you go out and pick a hip hop song and try to sing along you'll get there. becuz hip hop song have really high notes and low notes... try a chris brown song or ne-yo.. once you have been doing well in the hip hop genre expand it into country or something because hip hop is hard for begingers but country is hard for everyone.. so try hip hop then country

only one way dude, sing. Join a group of any sort, sing with others, practice active listening or in other words analyzing what it is you like and dislike, record yourself, learn how to breathe, but just sing.

The only way to really improve your voice is by practicing. Join a choir and get voice lessons. If it's what you really want, then you should go for it.
