I know the Bible speaks against it and it is frowned upon as a pagan practice by christians yet I see them sucking their finger when they get a paper cut. I believe it is a sin on both ocassions.

The law against drinking blood came about because Jews believe that we have several levels of soul. The lowest level of soul is called "Nefesh" and it is literally the life energy that animates the limbs of every living thing. So we are forbidden to eat the blood because we would be eating the soul of whatever it was that the blood belonged to.

Christians of course, eat the soul of Jesus every Sunday, if I remember right, "this is my body, this is my soul (or spirit) or whatever, the wafer and the wine.

This comes from ancient pagan practices where it was thought that if one drank the blood (and sometimes ate the heart or brain) of one's vanquished enemies, you'd gain the strength and warrior characteristics of that dead person. This practice doesn't come from Judiasm, and Jews find it repugnant and canabalistic.

In any case, the law against it doesn't and never did apply to non-Jews. ONLY to Jews. Non Jews were never under ANY laws that the Jews are except for the 7 Noahide Laws which you can look up on the internet if you are unfamiliar with them. This is what's so funny about Christians saying that Jesus freed them from the law - it's impossible to free someone from something they were never bound by in the first place, eh.

Anyway, that's why in the JEWISH Torah it is forbidden to drink blood. The Christians tacked on the Jewish bible to their New Testament to give their new book legitimacy and have almost no idea what any of the Torah even means, nor that it never did apply to them in the first place.

I for one don't have a problem with it. I do love a rare steak every now and then. I know that some cultures in the world depend upon the blood of live animals for sustenance. Do I think they are committing a sin? No.

A tiny bit of blood from a paper cut is not a problem. However if you drink a large amount of blood you are setting yourselves up for serious problems. Blood carries diseases. It is "religiously" wrong because most religions believe blood is the source of life in a human.

Usually when someone sucks a cut, they spit it out. Actually, the Bible is speaking about not eating the blood of the animals we consume because the "life is in the blood."

No it is not sinful. Why would it be? Blood is just another body tissue. Why would consuming blood be any different from consuming muscle or fat or other body tissues? Besides, unless you are vegetarian, or buy only kosher meats, you do consume blood.

No, just ew. But don't christians do it every week in church? After all, you're supposed to believe that is actually really in reality the blood of Jesus. If you don't believe that, you're not really christian according to most people.
