This accurate type of information is unavailable on Yahoo Answers.
You must visit with, or telephone your hometown military Recruiters for the very latest information. (A visit is best when getting your information.)
Right now, start making a list of all the questions you can think of. When the time comes, take your list of questions with you to the hometown military Recruiter and "pick their brain" to ensure all your questions are answered.
Also ask what types of high school courses you would also need to graduate high school, which would be to your advantage for your potential future job, when enlisting in the military.

There is no better service. Except for the Marine Corps. :) Just kidding, it totally depends on what you want to do. the Navy tends to be more technical, the Army less so.
I would talk to both recruiters, get a look at the rates/MOS's your ASVAB scores let you enlist for, and decide based on what you want to do.
Both are honorable services, and one is not "better" than the other. Just different. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
The Army would be worthless without a navy (see Normandy, or the Pacific Campaign) and Vice versa. No sailor has ever taken an enemy city.
And there is no sea duty requirement in the navy. You go aboard ship depending on your rate. I know linguists that have never even seen the deck of a ship, much less served on one.
As to vegsk8grl's response, I guess she would rather be enslaved by the first country that got a bug up it's butt the first minute we didn't have an Army and a Navy.

Army or navy they both are good but I would choose the Army if I was going in. Only cause I have heard the best about them in our area but the Navy Seals have a great rep...

It all depends what you joined for. I am in the Navy. Sometimes I feel as though I am useless and not really fighting for our country. I have seen a lot of countries which is a plus but if you are looking to fight for your country, i would say go army but if you are looking to stay out of harms way, i would choose Navy. If you want the best of both world's i would say go Navy as an Air Rate. ABH or AO. ABH's work with the planes. AO's put the bombs onto the planes. I sit at a desk all day providing world class customer service =)

I have a son in the Army and a brother in the Navy. Both are admirable.

Depends what you want to do, but for me Navy no doubt! (Submarine Service Volunteer)
If what you want is mostly combat then the Army is for you, but if you want to not only serve, but also learn trades and/or technical degrees, even possibly all the way to nuclear engineering and have someone else pay for it then Navy baby!,
The Navy has the SEALs which are combat and very tough, but most jobs in the Navy are technical in one way or the other.
I did my technical education that way and now I am an engineer, basically paid for by the gov. And we in the Submarine Force did some "stuff" you only see in the movies!

Im Army....so I am partial...but...weight all the options and benefits before you make your decision. Also remember that Navy has a sea duty requirement, I believe, but Army isn't as accomodating to their soldiers. It has a LOT to do with your reasonings for joining. Good Luck.

I'm an ARMY BRAT but believe it or not I can be impartial when I want to be.......lol.......and I choose this to be one of those times
I believe that all branches of the military are equal in that one is not necessarily better than the other,if we are just speaking in general terms, they all have necessary functions and we cannot function properly without any one branch.
However they each offer opportunities in different specialties,so it really all depends on what you would like to specialize in,so do your homework and make an informed decision based on what would be right for you.
