What does it mean to you? What is its significance? Are you prepared to wear that for the rest of your life? These are the questions I ask myself before I get a tattoo. After I decide on those questions, I wear a fake tattoo of similar size in the place where I want the real one to be for six months. If after six months I am still okay, I move forward with getting my tattoo.
Words of Wisdom: It is never a good idea to get a "fad" tattoo, because next year or the year after that it will be out and old and you won't like it anymore. Current boyfriends and husbands names are bad ideas too, breakups and divorces happen, tattoos are permanent.

I think some tattoos are beautiful (like your childrens names) and some are just stupid. You really have to think about what you are getting. You are more likely to regret it if it is something that doesn't mean anything to you. Also I believe that a tattoo should be somewhere that you can cover it up, as some people don't like it and can affect your employment chances (i know they should but some people are shallow). Also go to a reputable tattoo parlour because there are some dirty ones out there and you don't want to catch any diseases. I personally wouldn't get a tattoo because it is a scar on your body that will be there forever.

I think that if you really want a tattoo, then go for it. However, before you do this, think about how you'd feel to be your mom's age with this tattoo. They last forever and it's not like you can just wash them off. I almost got one when I was 19 of this little fish on my ankle. I'm 28 now and am exceedingly glad I didn't get it. Remember that what you think is great now, might not be so great later. (Think back 10 years to something that you really loved...is your interest in it still the same?) We all change with time, so if you're going to get a tattoo, realize that it's going to be around when you're 25, 35, 45, 55....etc. I'm not trying to dictate what's right or wrong here, just get you to think a bit before making a decision that will not be so easy to get rid of later on. Good luck with whatever your decision. : )

You can get it removed-if you want to spend $6,000+ per tat! And they have to remove your skin and get the ink out from under your skin, and put skin from somewhere else on your body there! I hear it hurts. Don't get skulls or devils or giant 'cycle stuff unless that's why u live. Do whatever u want, but there are consequences if u don't think it through. Ok, this is a funny true story. my friend's bro was talkin' about gettin' a tat, so my friend's all, get an M on both butt cheeks. it'll spell mom. Your butthole's the O. Get it? MoM!lol!

As several people ahead of me have said, it's very over-used. Some tattoo artists won't even do them any more because of that. Even fairies and unicorns get the same treatment.
Remember, you have to live with this for the rest of your life. As many, many people can tell you, even a spouse's name is not always "for life."

I recommend you visit several tattoo parlors. Talk to the artists about what they do, and why they do it. Also, ask about sterile technique in their shop, as well as the state laws about that (call your state department of consumer affairs for that.) Next, talk to a cosmetic surgeon about what it costs to remove a tattoo, how much it hurts, too. If you still want a tattoo, of any kind, in any place, then go for it. You will have made a decision you can live with.

if that is something that means a lot to you and has a personal significance go for it. If its something that you will still like when your 82 and have grand kids asking you about it and your still going to like it and be proud of it, go for it!

I HAVE 5 tattoo's soon to be 6 and who knows how many more, mine all mean a lot to me and have a story behind them! I can tell you the who what where when and why of all my tattoos!

so just remember they are forever!

The important thing is that this tattoo means something to YOU. I have one of a star (top of foot), which has a lot of personal meaning to me. Also I have a letter 'b' tattoo (inner wrist) - my boyfriends (and my future husband's!) initial. Both mean so much to me and I am really proud of them. Best of luck with your tattoo...you will LOVE IT!

That sounds very cute. Where do you want to get it at?

I recommend getting it on the top of your foot. It's cute there, not incredibly painful and won't sag when you get older. ;)
(Mine is 3 stars with a heart in the right corner on the top of my foot)
