Very good quality, excellent from all points of view.
Only downside is its shutter lag, it takes over a second to shoot from the moment you press the shutter release (including measure and autofocus).

It's a good set up considering that you are getting a:
6X optical zoom ( the only zoom feature that really matters), and an optically stabilized lens.
As always noted in my previous answers, for the camera, please get a few sets of genuine AA rechargeable NiMh battery and a good charger for it.

This is a so-so camera, and quite an old model. You can get a lot more for your money now. For a few dollars extra, you can get the brand new Canon S5-IS unit http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_s5is.asp which is a lot more camera.
