Chihuahuas. They don't smell.

Why would getting another dog let you keep the first dog? That makes no sense at all.

Ignoring that huge question...moving on. NO DOG IS HYPOALLERGENIC. People are going to suggest poodles, or poodle mixes. Don't believe them. She shed less (yes, they shed), but many people are allergic to the dog's saliva, NOT the fur. If your mom is one of those, then poodle wont help her.

You can make your current dog less allergenic by giving it more baths, cleaning alot, and they sell wipes that will cut down the dander between baths.

Your mother should ask her doctor if any breed of dog is possible for her to have considering her allergies. If she is able to have one, there are breeds that shed very little such as most dogs mixed with poodle . Some I can think of: Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, Bischon Frise
Chinese Crested are largely hairless, and they have the distinction of holding more world records for ugliest dog than any other breed, as far as I know. I think they look kinda wild, like something out of Dr. Suess.

depends on what you want. Basically, everyone in my family has allergies, so we were in the same boat. We have a standard poodle, which is nice b/c she's a big dog, and we don't have any allergy problems at all. There are a lot of smaller breeds out there that don't shed as much too. There is a website out there where you fill in a bunch of stuff, like what size you want, how much space you have, and yes, if you have allergies, and it tells you what breeds are best for you.

here's the link: http://www3.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm

This helped us a lot. I hope it helps you too and that everything works out okay. :D

It's hypoallergenic. The Native American Indian Dog is just that. No smell. They do shed in the spring so they need to be taken outside and brushed regularly. But they are bred to be hypoallergenic and good for those with allergies and asthma.
they are great with other animals and people. They are good protecteors and are friendly. They are beautiful and if your partial to the way wolves look then this would be the dog. NO THEY ARE NOT BRED WITH WOLVES. They just look like one. They are very similar to the husky and malamute for pulling things. they are not good apartment dogs, they do need a fenced area to run...or just some good room to run.

Poodles don't shed, but most are ridiculously smart and neurotic. They are jealous dogs. If you spend more time with your homework that your dog, your dog might chew your school books. They are very persecptive little dogs. I love poodles. They are the most loyal silly smell free dogs around. :-) I'm allergic to dogs too, but I wasn't allergic to my poodle. I had a mut mix between a poodle and a bishon. It was a giant fluff ball genius dog.

there is no such thing as a hypo ( not hyper ) allergenic or no shed dog.

since dander is dead skin - there is no such thing as a no dander dog. they just aren't breeding dogs with no skin.

there are low she dogs & the dander depends somewhat on grooming & the kind of food you feed

Check your mother's allergies with various dogs, such as poodles, bichon frise, cockapoo, any poodle mix, some small terriers and schnauzers, possibly a maltese or lhasa.
