I'm trying to decide which to get for my 15th birthday. I'm not very tolerant of pain, so I'm looking for something as quick and comfortable as possible.

Nose is WAY less painful. It seriously is like a tiny pinch and then it's over. Don't let a piercer get NEAR your nose with a piercing gun though. They can't be sterilized and you run a higher risk of getting an infection or having worse scar tissue with a gun. They should use a very sharp, brand new needle. Nose piercings heal in a couple months and are easy to care for.

Navel piercings take six months to a year to heal. They get infected very easily and migrate a lot. Many push completely out. They get caught on clothing as well. They rank as one of the most painful piercings, but pain does vary from person to person.

I'd highly recommend the nose ring.

depends. for nose rings i had mine pierced with a needle and it did hurt i wont lie, however it stopped hurting after the first coupel days you just need to take care of it and you would be fine. the navel i had numbed and then pierced but was pretty sore for a while and i ened up takin it out. however my friend got the nose with a gun and she said it didnt really hurt at all. i'd say go for the nose.

1) This a hard one for me because as a mother, I would not allow my daughter to violate her body in such a manner. When she turned 18, though dismayed, I would let her make her own choice.
2) Though it is fashion, a navel piercing would put you in to position of wanting to show your adornment. At 15, it's a stretch.
And think about school, unless you wear uniforms, you are setting yourself up for unwanted attention and an unanticipated trip home to change clothes. Though the style is cute, teenage boys can be brutal when it comes to sexual innuendo.
Plus you will be showing your belly in school. How are your grades, by the way?
Nose piercing is safe and beautiful. Stay away from the lips. I saw a girl at the all today who looked like she was auditioning for "Dawn of the Dead" with two hoops centered on the lips.
Wear your nose piercing with pride and respect yourself.
When it comes to pain, they all hurt.

WOW I totally disagree, my nose hurt a whole lot less then my navel. I guess everybody is different when it comes to pain tolerance.

navels less painful, ive done both of these myself, and taken them out, i hang out at my step dads friends piercing parlor, and i kinda train myself. the reason is, ur navel is all soft tissue, and is much less stressful to the cells, while nose, you have to pass through a mucouse membrane and cartilage, any cartilage piercing is painful, but ur nose hurts more because of the mucouse membrane mostly, like if your nose gets dry and cracked and bleeds inside in the winter. its cuz its more sensitive. when i piercing my belly button it didnt hurt so bad. when i did my nose. i was tearing.

I think my navel hurt less to pierce, but stayed sore a lot longer than my nostril did. It's kind of a toss up.

nose is less painful if you have them do it with a gun. navel takes forever to heal and hurts quite bad. although its been said that the most painful pierce is the nipple. (they are right!)

nose i think is a lot cuter. just think, the pain is only for about 5 seconds. dont base your decision on how much it will hurt. base it on which one you want more. belly piercings also have the highest rate of infection and "rejection." Whichever one you get, please be smart about it and go to a professional. I suggest making your decision on which one you will get, then read up on it a lot so you know what to expect when you are taking care of it.

Good luck! (let me know which one you end up getting, and if you have any questions feel free to email me!)

It's a lot easier to get a belly ring caught on clothing. As long as you don't play with your nose ring constantly, it won't hurt.
I'd suggest the nose, but either way it'll be cute.
