I believe your question is serious so I'll put some time into an answer.
As a physicist-to-be, think on this: maybe God simply set the speed of light to be what it is - and that determined a whole LOT of things about the universe.
I studied physics as a major through grad school and then used it for years in industry - I often wonder how much of the world is the result of a few simple relationships.
Faith in humanity is unfounded and unwise - like faith in a basketball team, they are sure to let you down eventually.
Beliving that God exists is different from having faith in him. I can believe that "W" exists as our President but have no faith that he will do the right thing.
There is really no conflict between science and true faith in God. Those who see a conflict do not understand God nor do they understand science - both sides are guilty in this error.
Good luck - keep seeking.

I'd take a look at panentheism (which is found helpful by many who take science completely seriously but still feel the need to leave room for mystery, awe and transcendence). Have you read anything by the physicist Paul Davies?
It isn't entirely clear from your question what you find objectionable in 'science as a new religion' (do you mean Dawkins and Dennett with their scientific atheism, or New-Age interpretations of quantum physics?) and in Dawkins' book. I have problems with it too, but they may not be the same ones you have. Take a look at my blog where I offered a review and evaluation of Dawkins' book (among others) and then get in touch and let me know what else I can do to be useful in your search!

I am a recovering Christian...now more like an atheist until I can do own research
so far I can prove myself, others, nature and science mostly, no proof of a god or deities, see them as hero stories led to teach morals or give hope but not put faith in so much as you get inspiration from and
become the change you wish to see in others
respecting and loving myself to not allow others to rule me was a good start, then striving to not harm others including attacking their faith was next step

I'm reading that right now...he IS an idiot (none of what he says is making sense to me) btw I am a Christian (practicing) and I've spoken to many people who are going through what you are.
Wondering why i'm reading it? I'm a knowledge absorber...I read everything!
I won't preach at you; that is one thing I find so wonderful about the way God made us...we have freedom to believe Him or not, he didn't make us robots.
If you ever need an ear, email me...If you don't want advice I won't give it; But may I ask...why did you suddenly (it sounds) stop believing?

When I went through my agnostic phase and realized I wanted more in my life, I began to study Buddhism. I have studied it for 8 years and it has brought me peace and also, I got over the resentment I felt toward Christianity. I agree with your attitude about science being a religion and since I have a degree in science I am not impressed with the infallibility of scientists. Just take your time studying Buddhism and start with the words of the Buddha. Also, the basics...

As you have chosen atheism, you have chosen to stand alone when you need spiritual help. What can anyone say? You'll have to call on the support of at least one of those very disappointing humans you refer to for support, cuz, that's all there is for you until you are willing to reconsider and be open to the possiblity that there may be something there spiritually, though not necessarily that with which you're bombarded daily. Don't give up your search, but keep your mind and heart open. Take the reins in your hands and conduct your own independent search for truth and don't stop till you find it. If you're sincere, you'll find your answers.

Explore everything, and take what feels right to you, what fits, and make it your own, and go from there.
Only you know what your interests are in the area of spirituality, so explore them further. The more you do this, the more you'll find that feels right to you, feels like home. It's one step at a time.
Don't think someone is going to come along and say "here it is! I've got the answer!" cause they don't, any more than anyone else. It's very individual.
Explore everything that interests you, and you'll find what you're looking for.

Atheist are class of people who dont believe blindly.
There are so many hypocrites who call themselves a religionist or a believer. It is better to be atheist instead being such a hyopcrite.
Well God is equal to all(Plants, animals, theist, athiest, religionist.....). So u can make ur own pathway toward him. U need not believe him till U know him. He will definitly reveal himself to worthy people( who might not be in the good books of any theists)

What do you need help with?
Edit: Well, that's a question we all struggle with. There is no right answer. You'll have to find what works for you. If it helps, know that every single person on the planet faces the same problem.

"who or what to turn to?"
Thats your problem- you shouldn't have to turn to anyone. You should be strong enough to carry your own beliefs and feel confident in them... not knowing something means you should find answers, not someone to ask questions to.
Atheism is not a group. Its a lack of belief in a deity. Theres no atheist church or club. There are individuals experiencing life as it comes to them.
