Before you try anything of a permanent or semi-permanent nature, try Roux rinse, a temporary rinse that shampoos out with the next shampoo. You will want to use an ASH shade to neutralize the orangey tone of the brassy parts. It won't make a big difference on the rest of your hair.

I'm not familiar with the Shimmer Shampoo. If it's a temporary product you can try it with no problem. But if it's semi-permanent or permanent, it will not just wash out.

It's very difficult to pull out only certain strands and treat them with anything. You will get near-by strands and change them, too. Often to another brassy color. The next time you have your highlights done, ask the hairdresser to select strands that are approximately the same size so you can get consistantly the same level of lightening in all the strands. That should produce the effects you want.

they might have turned out brassy because you're hair was too dry. don't be offended.. it happens. ..about the shimmer lights..i doubt that will get rid of the brassiness. maybe you can call a salon and ask about corrective coloring.
