When in doubt, throw it out.

Rotting vegetables can cause the opposite effect as the antioxidants they normally provide and can even cause headaches and, in severe instances, some brain damage.

Technically it's OK to eat them but not suggested. The "slimey" condition is usually the result of inadequate refrigeration somewhere in the distribution chain. Most manufacturers injects a small amount of tap water into the carrot bag to keep the carrots moist and fresh. If the carrots are not kept cold, they will turn slimy. However if the carrots are stored at 33-to-40 degrees, they should last 4-to-5 weeks without any problems.

Hope this helps :)

Do NOT eat them. They are decaying already. You will have a stomach ache later if you do. Do put them in the garden if you would like, like someone else suggested. Makes great fertilizer. And for future ref. it anything that isnt supposed to be gooey/slimey and they turn that way, do not eat them. Throw them away. Also try to refrigerate your veggies & try to eat them soon after you buy them.

Sure...go for it...if your really interested in getting a severe case of diarrhea that is. The smell and slime is caused by bacteria beginning to break down the carrots.

Not if your fingers sink in in spots. You might try washing the whole bag load and fishing out the most sturdy ones. Check the expiration date...it sounds like they are past prime for sure.

I would have chucked them just at gooey. You did not need to add slimy and smelly for extra convincing.
