I did find a Yahoo! Group that might serve your purposes. It might say families, but it seems to be for anyone close to someone in the military. You could probably find others as well, both on Yahoo! and elsewhere, if you look.
Good luck!

i am currently in Iraq, the government recently has made it hard to contact people back home with IM or myspace, but gmail still has a IM that is web based that works here. Also everyone has Iraqi cell phones and your boyfriend can buy prepaid phone cards, though it is much cheaper for you to call him, Also there are a few embassy numbers that dial you straight to Iraq and all it is a long distance call to maryland , though those sometimes are hard to get on. Also if you can get an AKO email there are many chat groups on that site for families with loved ones over here. I have been able to chat with my girl back home as much as I wanted, there are many options.

I can help you with this, my friend was over there when I started to talk to him he had 4 or 5 months left when I started to talk to him. I found that just being there for him and honestly letting him know that you are there for him even on those days that just seem endless and depressing being there no matter what is one way to help you both get through it. Yahoo Im, web cams, and countless pictures, along with phone calls worked wonders. I know its hard for you and you miss him but also know that he needs to know that you are there no matter what. And please no matter what you do don't brake up with him while he is over there. Just knowing you are there for him will help him get through this. There were plenty of times my friend would get on the net just to talk cause he couldn't sleep or he was having a bad day. For me it didn't matter what time of day it was. If if needed me I was there to listen . If you need a friend and someone to talk to you can add me.

Does his unit have a family support group.? My husband's did, and although they only met once a month, it was nice to meet up with a group of people going through the same thing, and we could keep eachother informed on what was going on. Check it out, it could be a good resource for you. The year of my husband's deployment was the worst year of my life so far, but I feel like our relationship was stronger for having gone through it. Good luck, and take care of yourself.

I hope he comes back home safely to you. The troops over there are doing their best they can, I give you both support. You can't do much but just pray for him everyday, be more relaxed about it and hope for the best. If you really want something to do, go out to some troop fundraisers or do something for the troops. Good Luck!

I'm afraid I don't know of any, but I think it's great that you want to support him like that. Tell him thanks for serving for me. :)
