I went to their site and they do not have a good pix of it. You can call them and ask what type of seat belts they have on the ride.

Here are pictures of Montezuma's revence at Knott's.

There are no good pictures of the restraints (lap bars and a seat belt added by Cedar Fair, the owner of Knott's in 2002). Anton Schwarzkopf (1924-2001) proved his rides were safe by hanging upside down from one. Schwarzkopf rides consistently have the best safety records in the industry. This ride is a Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop model and here is how it works:

Manufacturer: Schwarzkopf

Model: Shuttle Loop

Notes: this shuttle roller coaster launches riders through a nearly circular vertical loop. Next the train climbs a 70 degree incline until it's momentum is depleted, falls backwards and repeats the journey backwards.

There are two variations of the catapult system: Weight Drop and Flywheel. The Weight Drop uses a 40 ton weight in a tower at the end of the ride. The weight connects to a pulley system which triples the speed of the drop, placing over 13 tons of force on the train. The Flywheel utilizes a six ton flywheel in a machine room in front of the loop. The flywheel spins to 1044rpm and then engages a 4:1 speed reducer. This turns a drive pulley and propels the train via a cable. Montezuma's revenge uses the weight drop method (you can see a large cylinder on the coaster.

These two links are accurate picture of the same model (called Greased Lightning at Great America) with the restraints (they are down and are the white bars) ---> http://rcdb.com/ig75.htm?picture=23

Although it has been many years since I've ridden Montezooma's Revenge, it did and I believe still does use locking lap bar restraints.

I have heard rumors that over the shoulder restraints were installed in place of the lap bars but I can't confirm this.
