Tea Trea Oil is deadly to cats. Get a flea comb and use that to comb out the fleas from the kittens. Dr the fleas in a bowl of soapy water - that kills them. Of course, you need to wash their beddings in warm soapy water to get rid of the flea eggs and larvae. And you need to flea-comb the kittens everyday. After a few days, you'll notice less and less fleas to comb out until there are none left. This is the safest way I know to control fleas on cats and kittens. I don't like putting chemicals on them.

Tea tree oil is TOXIC to cats. PLEASE do not use it on your kittens, or you may end up with more than dead fleas. If your kittens are too young for traditional flea treatment (ie, Advantage or Frontline. Do NOT get any of the Hartz brand flea products, as they've been shown to cause seizures in some animals.) get a flea comb from the pet store, and try to rid them that way. It help if you do this while bathing them, were the fleas can drown. That's only a temporary solution until you can use a chemical treatment, though.

Nope, sorry to say. Get a flea spray (we use Adam's Flea and Tick) and spray it on a hand towel. Wrap each kitten in the towel like a burrito (head exposed) for about 2-3 minutes twice daily. Vacuum REALLY well a couple times a day wherever the kittens are. As soon as they are 8 weeks old, start them on Frontline or Advantage for the fleas.

Tea tree oil is very good at killing and repelling lice in humans... just mix a few drops in some Suave coconut shampoo. Works wonders. However, it is very toxic to animals and should not be used on pets. I used Dawn dish soap and a flea comb, which was pretty effective but time consuming. Also, if they are seven or eight weeks you can get the Frontline stuff from the vet... this is really the best and it took care of the problem quickly.

I was at the vet today and he told me if your kittens are too young for Andvantage, you can wash them in Dawn or Joy dish soap. It will suffocate the fleas and you can use a flea comb to get them out. Be sure to rinse the kitties thouroughly or they will get a tummy ache from the soap. You need to flea treat the mother too. If possible, remove the cats from their area and put them somewhere else and shampoo the carpet where they were located.
Flea's are tricky little buggers if it gets out of control, plus if the kitties eat them they will get worms.
Good Luck!

Check with your vet - but tea tree oil and baby soap should not be used on kittens or cats to rid of fleas. Especially tea tree oil. It can be absorbed in their skin.

Do not ever wash your kittens. They clean themselves. They do not need us to give them a bath. Giving cats baths actually takes away the natural oils that they have in their fur and skin, which they need. So do not give them a bath! They will make themselves clean!
Go to your vet, and ask for some medications.
I advise against a flea collar, as some animals are indeed allergic. One of my cats went blind from a flea collar.

No, you haven't said how old your kittens are, under eight weeks then you need to go to the vets over that then there are plenty of products you can buy. The best one I found is calles 4flea and comes in a pink packet and is a tablet which is easier to give then spraying them with powder or liquid.
