Yes, at least 20% if they did a good job. As for piercing, I don't know maybe 10% because it's not as much work involved.

In response to one of the answers, I don't think you HAVE to tip in ANY country ...
But yeah, you should tip when getting a tattoo ... especially if it turns out good! I'd say it's more important to tip a tattoo artist, since they are permanently inking your skin. You're trusting someone to take their skill and their time to change a part of yourself.
As to how much you should tip, that is up to you. Standard tip for restaurants is like ... 15% (double taxes). And that's just for someone to take your order and bring you your food! A tattoo artist should get like ... 20 - 25% minimum, again, for taking the time to permanently ink your skin.

I'm not sure...but when I got my bellybutton pierced I tipped the guy $10.00 just to be nice since there was a little sign in the room that said something about tipping. Otherwise if I wouldnt have seen that sign I would have never thought about tipping him....lol

Yep, %15-20 because aparantally they work off of tips and tattoos, there is no hourly, and they pay rent(booth space) like some hairstylests. Also please take cash, if you pay with your card the artist wont get the money until the owner comes in usually the next day.

I always tip, no matter what, when I like the service. As of how much, I say it all depends of how much the bill is and how satisfied you are with the service.

i didnt tip when i got my tattoo and when i got my nose pierced. but if ur in america u might tip bcoz in america u tip everyone lol. im in ireland by de way

I always tip 20%. As I always say, you tip a waiter, a valet, your hair stylist, the person taking your luggage....why wouldn't you tip someone putting permanent art on your body?

It's very polite to tip......that tells the artist that you are very happy with the experience and the art.
There's no set price, percentage, it's just what you feel like giving.
