And I feel conflicted about being a fan/potential fan of them because my politics/beliefs are so different. Does anyone else feel like this? It may be because Im a very passionate person about politics/religious practices. Or should I say the he*l with it and enjoy what I enjoy ?

put your core beliefs first, and then enjoy what you can without feeling too guilty about it

by the way 360 puts you in the same direction

a 180 is turned in the opposite direction

no offense, just FYI

Well 360 means you are in the same place. So, that sounds weird. 180 would be the opposite. (90 dgrees is a quarter turn!) SOme people think that you should support the artists you agree with. Some don't Just remember that if you do buy something from the people that you do not like, personally, you are putting money in their pocket and promoting them further in their success. But, some of the christian musicians are human, like we are, and make mistakes. You can be tolerant and listen to what you like or be mindful of who you support with your money. It is a fine line, but it isn't something someone else would be able to decide for you, I don't think. Personally, I do not have timet o research all the bands veiws that I like. I listen to what I want if it has a good messege.

I listen to 3 Doors Down who are very much pro military (saw them live at the Annapolis Naval Academy, and at the Aberdeen, MD proving grounds military site). I listen to Audioslave which consisted of 3 former Rage members who are very much in opposition of president Bush and his dealings on the war in Iraq.

It seems as if these two bands operate under two different schools of thought. Most people who are against the war perhaps aren't anti-military, but won't make a strong effort to show visible support of them either.

Basically I listen to both bands because I like the music, that's the most important thing to me. I realize that musicians are no less human than I am, and I'm not necessarily going to agree with any political view points that they express. So I just dig the music.

Well, personally I think that any band that makes a big point of it's religion (or lack of) is a pretty cynical excuse for a marketing ploy and for that reason Id avoid them, BUT, it all comes down to what's important to you.

Personally, I think the neo-nazi band Skrewdriver writes some interesting music, BUT, lyrics and the message in the music is important to me, and their lyrics are total crap and as such, I avoid them.

a lot of those "christian groups" are out there to make a record, gain fans, and make gobs of money, and not really christian at all. evanescence claimed to be "christian" at first, and then got what she wanted and then turned around and said she wasn't "christian" at all. I'd say listen to what you enjoy.

Music is music.... you do not have to believe in what they believe in to enjoy it.... music is made for entertainment.... if it entertains you then it has done its job!!!!
