I left the mormon denomination and became a Christian. After learning BIBLICAL truths I easily saw the fallacy of the mormon doctrines.

My simple/quick "testimony": I HEARD the word of God, BELIEVED what I heard, understood that I was in sin and REPENTED, CONFESSED that Jesus IS the son of the living God, and was BAPTIZED to wash away my sins BY the precious blood of the Lamb of God.

Through diligent study of the scriptures I learned that the mormon denomination is not CHRIST's church.

Christ said that HE would build HIS church (singular) Matt. 16:18...

He did NOT say that He would build a bunch of different denominations with conflicting doctrines and traditions that are contrary to the very oracles of God.

Where the word churches (plural) is used in scripture it is NEVER used to designate different denominations, but rather, CHRIST's church in different locations/communities. Example: Corinth, Ephesus, Jerusalem, etc.

I was added to HIS church in 1974. One does not "join" Christ's church. HE adds the saved to His church.

Now I am a CHRISTIAN only....Romans 16:16

I'm a Baptist. I went to the Mormon church to learn about the Bible I never really got converted I questioned it all the way. When I got the answer of why Christ had to die on the cross and why he did it I left since I knew I had the answer to my questions that I had found what I believed.

My wife leans towards agnosticism, or the belief that the 'kingdom of god' lies within the person, not and external spirit. She's deeply spiritual, but not particularly religious. She's also well read, but admits, some explanations of christian history is confusing and contradictory.

I'm more pragmatic in my approach. If there is a 'creator', why does he go to such lengths to be hidden? Why are there such diverse approaches to him worldwide? Why does an ultimate supreme being need my 'worship'? And what's the deal with colliding galaxies, wandering black holes and dark matter?

If you need to believe in something, don't jump out of the frying pan into the fire. Start small and work up if it suits you.

The Jehovah's Witnesses have a good free progam. Some Pentacostal's have more spirit than is necessary. A little of both seems in order. The word and the spirit, no? Spirituality from the Christian perspective is good too. There's some homework. Anything good takes a little effort even if slowly, It will all profit you, believe me, as we are more than a robot and information helps get you to a higher level where the joy is. Ask God, but expect an answer, it might come while you ask the question and then ask what it means as no doubt you will have to. It's amazing. It seems like your talking to yourself except you get these fabulous answers that often take some clarification, so you end up in a conversation. It says "God answers prayer." People just don't believe it or take it literally. Do please, even if it's the spirit. When I talk to my folks on the phone, I don't say that I'm taling to the phone, although I really am. Same thing.

Baptist's are a pretty good denomination but denominations are not Biblical. That's why I belong to a non-denominational church. If you want to hear some solid Biblical teaching with practical applications and humor then check out Pastor Paul Sheppard @ http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Enduring_Truth/archives.asp

First, just a storefront Christian church. Then Southern Baptist, then Lutheran.

I'm now an atheist.
