My boyfriend just found a cat who has a horribly broken tail. It's just about at a 90 degree angle. There is no way we can take the poor thing to a vet seeing as we both have no money. What can I do for her that would help?

I can't take her to a shelter cause were I live there is only one and they but animals to sleep almost as soon as you take them in. They don't even try to help them if they're hurt and put them right to sleep. It's a horrible place. I would rather do almost anything then take her there.

She's in pain, and she's having problems going to the bathroom because of the broken tail.

The cat needs to see a vet, as broken tails can be very serious. As you said, she is showing pain and not able to use the litterbox. Call an emergency vet and ask for advice... almost all vets at least have an answering service and will talk to you about emergencies (which this is!). Perhaps he can make a suggestion as to how to make kitty more comfortable for right now. Taking her to shelter tomorrow is probably your only option... I know you say that they will put her down, but if you cannot afford to fix her it may be the next best thing because she is in pain and the problems will only get worse if she is not treated. I hate to even say that, but like I said it may be the best thing unless you know someone who would be willing to help financially or adopt the cat. Also, the shelter will have a vet that they use on a regular basis... perhaps you can work out a payment plan or something with him if he knows you want to help and plan to adopt the cat. I don't know if you do, since you seem to be having financial issues, but if you are willing that may also be an option. Poor kitty!!! Give her lots of love so she at least knows some kindness while she is in pain. Good luck and give her a pet for me...

approximately 60$ for each thing. perhaps seventy 5$. it is not an emergency people! you do no longer ought to velocity to the docs doing 80mph... he will stay. he's going to be in discomfort no be counted what, the vet can not in basic terms magically make it bypass away. in basic terms get him there in the subsequent 40 8 hours tops. I by possibility broke my cats tail earlier. i replaced into attempting to offer him medicine or some thing on a similar time as kneeling and preserving him between my legs. He jumped backwards at an previous perspective and snapped his tail a pair erm, vertebrates(?) up from the backside of his tail. The vet has to experience it and perhaps do an xray. My vet mentioned he's seen it earlier and ended up in basic terms popping the bones back in place. My cats tail replaced into bugging him for some days extra, yet then ultimately stood back up at as quickly as. He had a kink in his tail for various months even regardless of the undeniable fact that it somewhat is been very almost a twelve months and he's a hundred% extra valuable. Amputation will in all probability no longer be mandatory except after the vet cracks the tail back in place the tail won't end dragging for atleast a month or 2. The cat's tail could must be completely ineffective and getting interior the way of litterbox applications, getting stepped on and so on. Distemper and Rabies photos are all you prefer so those are 20$ each and every tops and the vet bill must be much less then 50$. I propose for me it may fee in all probability 60$ for the full bypass to, yet i'm getting some reductions and understand the vet for my section.

the ONLY way to make it better is by taking it to the Emergency Vet. but since u dont have the money, take it to the shelter. they will TRY to fix it, but if the cat is to scronney or doesnt look like it'll live, then they MAY euthanize it. the longer that tail is broken, the higher chance it'll have to be sugerically removed. but im sure that the sooner u bring it in, then it'll be ok. PLEASE take it to the pound or shelter!! @ the clinic i work at, we see A LOT of stray animals that come in. over 70% find a new home!! God Bless♥

i just saw that u added about the shelter. well im sure theres a vet office that open somewhere. call around and see. o yeah, if the cat looks to be in pain, then the tail is broken, and my need to be suggicaly removed. BUT if its not broken, then it was just born that way. some cats are just that way, and their in NO pain. to see if its painful, touch the tail and kinda stroke it a little. if u think that he/she isnt in pain, then most likely its an OLD injury or just born that way.

How sad.Try to do some charity and find a 1 day job to solve it.As also building relationship with ur boyfriend.Or bring it to a cat-lover for advice,if all turns well, she might bring it to a vet.A broken tail like that, sadly to say, cannot be reattached by others means.A vet needs a surgery to connect it or to make its tail shorter. An delay may cause stress, injury and maybe dangerous situation to the cat.Animals have stress too,if none of u noticed or knows. As i dont mean homework stress or what.Like chicken without proper food and lodge, will get stress.

We need more info. Is it showing signs of being in pain? You probably can't or shouldn't do anything to it without like training as a vet or u might make it worse. Personally, I would try to earn money to get it a trip to the vet. Ask people to donate, ask parents, teachers (they usually donate a lot), mow lawns for money, window washing for money, etc.

Broken tails in cats are not abnormal. If the cat is not in pain (and you would know if it meows when you stroke its tail) there is nothing to do! Alot of cats are born with 90 degree tails. If it doesn't bother them, it shouldn't bother you. Now, if the cat is in obvious pain (bellowing, doesn't eat, etc) contact your local SPCA for assistance.

get her to a shelter that can take care of her. If you have taken her in she is legally yours and it is a case of cruelty if you do not take it to the vets for an emergancy like this.
So there is nothing but take to teh vets tell them it's a stray and you are just turning it in

leave it alone. its the way of life. some things are short lived while others enjoy their life.it was probably born with the tail. leave it alone but if its in pain, call a vet, you dont have to pay for their advice.as jeff corwin could not help the little black bird that lived in the cave from bieng eaten by insects.

A lot of cats are born with genetically crooked tails. There is nothing to be done unless the cat is pain.
