I got a very bad sunburn around my chest, arms, neck, and shoulders...they are swelling up and look as though I put on 10 pounds, which the scale says. What can I do to lose the water weight?

The answer is simple. DRINK WATER. Your body is storing it to cool the high temps on your skin and to regulate your internal thermostat. You may be hot, then cold, due to heat pouring out of your body. Your skin is tight and stinging. Even though you are bloated from the sunburn, you are likely dehydrated because the water in your system is not circulating and serving its purpose to carry poisons out of yoru body. It is simply trying to cool you.

If your burns are bad enough, you are at risk of becoming sick, anything from nausea to infection of any blisters to heat exhaustion or hypothermia. You MUST keep water in your system to keep toxicity levels down in your body.

Another trick from the PMS handbook, regarding bloat, is that drinking water will flush not only the water drunk, but the water retained.

I think it has to do also with your body releasing water because it trusts you to keep providing it, instead of hoarding it...a principle from the feast or famine concept in dieting (where your body will not shed fat if you don't FEED IT.)

You are likely very uncomfortable, but it is more than that. Don't play and do take it seriously, it isn't just a sunburn. Take steps to regulate your body temp since your skin is damaged. Stay hydrated. Take steps to keep your skin clean so you don't get infections, this means soaking in a cool tub of vinegar (a mild disinfectant and also a skin conditioner). Don't try to wear clothes that rub on your burn...which eliminates the inconvenience of being bloated. Just ride it out and don't expect too much from your body.

Be good. Of course in the future, don't let this happen again! I feel your pain by the way, I remember what it is like to have your skin so tight that you can't move and to wear a swimsuit for a week straight because I couldn't put anything else on my body.

Drinks lots of water. The extra water you drink, the fewer your frame will include. Doesn't sound proper, however it's. Maybe 4 of the 8 kilos was once fats you placed on, or might be it is not. Try consuming 8 8oz glasses of water according to day and I'll wager it's going to come off.

Seriously, time and actual bed rest as well as a soothing lotion for pain (i like noxzema).
Drink fluids so you don't become dehydrated and also continue to eat even if it's light.
Can try cool compresses also.
You really need to rest; the weight gain will drop when you begin to heal.
Should call a Doctor if it's getting worse.
I know the pain!!!
