There is a book that is out of print, but you should be able to find it. "To Hell and Back" written by a surgeon who had patients with near death experiences. There are some interesting commonalities these people experienced.

I believe it happens, I have a Christian friend who had an experience as such and lived to share it with everyone. It changed her completely as well. Blessings

If they actually died then there would be life afterwards now would there? NDEs are normal shock or trauma reactions of the body. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing other worldly involved.
