can my cat be allergic to cat nip. I have two cats. The one that loves cat nip is seven years old and the younger one, who just turned one in April, jumps away from it every time I try to give it to her. She acts like it is something that she is allergic to and always starts squinting and backs away when I try and give it to her. I don't plan on trying to give it to her again but i'm just wondering why she doesn't like it.

Some cats just don't like catnip. Just like some adults don't like things - no big deal.

Cat nip is HARMLESS for cats. If a cat has a catnip high, the cat can actually decide she doesn't want to be high anymore and stop the buzz immediatly. Catnip is harmless! It is a great way to get greens into their systems - especially if you can get fresh, organic catnip.

I don't know how catnip became thought of as a bad thing for cats - that is just not true. They cannot get addicted and when you have it available for them all the time, they will decide when they want to get into it.

Catnip does not have a euphoric effect on every cat. There are a few, like yours, that it has no effect on. Each cat is different. I have one cat who loves avocado, and if I offer to the other cat, he gags at the scent of it. I don't think your kitty is allergic to catnip, she just doesn't like it.

Some cats just don't like catnip, just as some people don't like mint. Catnip also has different effects on cats, one of mine loves it and plays while the other will lay out it and do nothing. I wouldn't force the catnip of the her if she doesn't seem interested.

Of course, it could be only that cat hates cat nip, like my kitty, everytime she sniffes chicken she retches. I do not know why she keeps sniffing chicken though.
good luck.

it's just like yourself, you don't like every food or drink either, or?
Just leave her alone with it, she just doesn't like it, that's all
