I won't guarantee that this is fool-proof: Nothing, short of hiding in a sterile bubble, is.

But if you wash your hands frequently and sterilize the surfaces that everyone uses every day, you will cut down the chances of actually catching it. I use diluted Lysol on the sink and bathroom fixtures. You might also try alcohol on the kitchen counter, and on the tap and fixtures.
