i'm going to aruba in july. i'm from the dominican republic and have been to almost every other caribbean island, and i hate visiting other countries like a "tourist".
i know it's not carnival time, so is aruba worth travelling to? is there anything else to do besides going to the beach everyday?
Also, are the nightclubs open every night?-not the hotel nightclubs filled with tourists, the dancehall clubs that all of the arubians go to

I have been to Aruba twice, once a few years ago for 5 days and then on a cruise just a couple weeks ago. The island is small and the wind blows 15 to 20 MPH all the time. There are not more than 3 or 4 attraction to go see if you go on a tour of the island: the lighthouse, a cave, a natural bridge, and a national park that looks like a desert. You can do all of the touring you will want in 2 or 3 hours. The main town, Oranjestad, is small but does have pretty good shopping. The island has casinos in several hotels, a couple in town and the others in hotels around the beach areas.

There are places to hang out, like Senior Froggies, Planet Hollywood and some local brands in town. The big hotels also have their clubs/bars.

The main attraction in Aruba is the beaches; they are lovely. The beaches have all of the usual activities you may want like para-sailing, jet ski, sail boats, etc. The hotels are great; we stayed in the Marriott. Radisson has several hotels, two in Oranjestad and another on on eof the beaches.

I have no idea where the Arubians go, but there is entertainment. For me, the main attraction is the beaches.

You'll not find Senior Frogs or Planet Hollywood in Aruba.
Visit San Nicolas. Walk about in Oranjestad, San Nicolas,
Noord or any of the smaller towns. Speak with the locals.
From them you will learn of many interesting things to do
that are not in the tourist stream.
Getting about is not costly. Use Arubus.
Make the trip and while there just relax and absorb
that which is Aruba. Different from home and always
worth experiencing.
