Sounds like depression to these untrained ears. I'd investigate that possibility.

Jesus is the only real cure. I, too, until a few months ago, was kinda indifferent towards things. I'd talk and stuff at school and I could pretend that I cared but inside, I was like "Whatever." Then, Jesus became my best friend, and now I care. I confessed my sins and told Jesus that I knew He was the only way and that He died for me, and I asked Him to come into my heart. It worked! It'd work for you, too. All you have to do is truly believe that Jesus died for our sins and personally accept Him as your savior (speak the words, don't just think them; and it doesn't matter how fancy the words are; Jesus wants YOU, not a bunch of fancy words). You have to want it and be sincere, and Jesus will help you out. The Truth shall set you free! (It set me free.)

The loss of caring about things you use to care about is a potential sign of depression. Could be that you are just in an emotional slump for some reason or another...might be good to see if you can figure out the cause, be it something still current or something that happened a few months ago.

Before I read the additional details I was going to say "tribulation is the cure for a hard heart". When people are knocked out of their comfort zone and subjected to trials that need a supernatural solution they become broken hearted and turn to God.
It sounds more like you are suffering (if that's the right word) from a lack of compassion and not a hard heart. Why don't you take a look at this video and then consider what might happen to people you know if they don't turn to Jesus before they pass from this earth?

I'm in the same situation as you, the difference being that I know that "hard-heartedness" is a good thing. Why try to be sensitive in a shallow society filled with injustice? It's okay not to care about every Tom, Dick and Harry walking your streets. Still, you can take the advice of that person above me and seek psychological help for depression or something- the easiest thing would be to go to your GP first.

That's just detachment. Your emotions are getting a rest while your mind does all the driving. We all need a break sometime. Give it a few months and I would imagine your old depth of feeling will re-emerge.

Be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit by spending time in God's Word.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.

Ambivalence is a symptom of depression. I'm not saying that you are, but you'd be better off making sure that you are not. Your insurance should let you see a dr. Contact your HMO or whatever to get guidence. Note, if you go and the doctor immediately prescribes meds, I would get a second opinion.

You and I are in the same mental place.
Basically, about the only thing that gives me any real feeling anymore is playing the blues on my guitar. It's a great hobby. I think you should look for a hobby that allows you to express yourself--it can be a great outlet.

You might have a spiritual stronghold in your life. Pray to God to reveal the source of your emotional distancing, and ask Him to lead you to someone who can help and pray for you.
God is the answer to everything :)
