Try dousing him with WHITE vinegar. It stinks, but works well on the itch.

You know, this question is very ironic. My grandfather got burn surverely and it burned and itched so bad that he couldnt take it. I sware my grandmother bought every burn-relief product that a regular drug store sold and NOTHING worked. At this point and time he was desperate to try his own "remedies". Guess what worked? Deoderant (mens) gel. Any kind should work. It was one of the big brands but i cant quite but my thumb on it for you. I know they have a green and blue kind. Well, anyways he got the blue kind. Seems odd. But, i guess sometimes odd things work =]. Try it...

Put aloe vera gel in the refrigerator and put it on the burn. It may not immediately help the itching but it will draw the heat out of the burn and will help the burn to go away faster, which will remove the source of the itching.

In the past I have spread cold (plain) yogurt over the sunburned skin and it gave relief.
