There are no neutral people when it comes to opinions about us Latter Day Saints.
Having served a full time mission for the Church, I got my share of doors slammed in my face. Strangely though, no one's dog managed to get mad at me. It was odd seeing all my fellow missionaries become dog-phobic, while I managed to play and pet with all dogs I came across during my tour of duty.
As for people with a negative opinion about any particular Latter Day Saint, there are two political ends that voters in the US can view. One obvious one is presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a Republican, while another one is Senator Harry Reid, a Democrat out of Nevada. If a voter wishes to find a flaw with a particular Mormon, then the voter does not have to stick with only one political party.
As for people who posses a favorable view of the Latter Day Saints, many of these people, like myself wind up becoming one. The teachings they possess ring true to me, and the concept of having living prophets and apostles walking the earth again is pleasing to my heart. I also realize that the early christian converts in the times of Peter, James, and John, exercised the same amount of faith I had, because they had to break away from mainstream Judaism, populated with their own brands of religious professors, to become a disciple of a seemingly break away sect filled with people who claim to be representatives of the Holy Mesaiah.
So, if you manage to find a "neutral" opinion of the Church, I would be surprised. This is one topic that can divide even families. Such happened to me, but things will work out according to Christ's plans.
Thanks,
Alvin R.

Well being Mormon, I love it. I have been been apart of the church all my life. My who family line has been Mormon for as long as I can remember.
It makes me Happier. A lot of my friends ask why I'm always Happy, smiling all the time, and nice. I guess its that I know that the church is true and that the Holy Ghost is there with me throughout my day.

I love the mormon church. The members I know (my neighbors, some of my friends and professors) who actually live their religion are amazing people. Except I hate it being called the mormon church. The title is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and no they don't believe in Polygamy. They believe that families will be together in Heaven. I think that their religion, is a great way to live your life here on earth. It will keep you healthy both emotionally and physically. Their standards are very hard to live up to.

As a whole, I think they are wonderful people, wonderful Christians. Sometimes I have a problem with an individual or two, because they are not what they profess to be. But, I have that problem with all religions, not just the Latter-day Saints.

I have known and worked with a lot of Mormons over my life and I have never met one that could be called other than a Good Person. Human nature being what it is there may be some ‘bad’ ones; I have just never run across any.
As someone above said they set very high standards for themselves and do very well at meeting them. That being said, I do not believe that they are “Christian” in the orthodox sense and therefore will not attain the Kingdom of Heaven. It saddens me greatly.

It is an entire culture based on magical thinking and absolute conformity to authority. It is a male dominated organization with the soul of an insurance company, and similar promises: "Give us money, and we'll make sure you're taken care of." That's not a bad sentiment, and many people want to know exactly what the 'afterlife' is like, and the church provides answers, although bizarrely.
It's also based on 19th century folklore, morals, customs, theology, history and science, the last three being held to greater scrutiny as new discoveries are made, and some church claims rendered totally false.
It's biggest claim it that it is the 'One Only True Church', and everyone else really needs to be a member, or they'll pester them to death.
To answer your question: I used to think they were absolutely correct.

Latter day saints are good people. They should be nothing but complimented for their way of life. no drugs, no alcohol, no fornicating. the world would be a better place if everyone followed the virtues and standards that they do.
They're really good people, but they clash with many faiths. Nonetheless, they're good people.
