Why would a person 60 years of age wear dark sunglasses. It isn't for fashion, or to be different, but why? You can't even see her eyes, that the glasses are black.
She is the only one in the congregation who does so, and I attend many different masses and churches and haven't seen anyone who wears glasses like this.

No, she is not blind.
She drives her own car.

I am here asking for a reason, so I could get a better understanding, and all of you answered very well, with an exception of a jerk or two.

i doubt it's anything overly concerning. she could haev challenges with her eyes - cateracts, dialation problems, sensitivity to light - a number of medical reasons. while my mom's aren't that dark, they are thosethat darken in the light and oftenn, when the glorious rays of sun are shining through - her glasses darken on their own to protect her one pupil that does not dialate.

I could think of many reasons. Some are kinda pathetic, but some are valid. *Hangover, trying to hide the bloodshot eyes. *Maybe trying to just be "cool" *Trying to hide them dozing off in church (can't see if eyes are shut). *Maybe personal tragedy or family situation had them crying a lot before going into church, so hiding red, sobbing eyes. *Maybe in an abusive relationship/family and person punched them in eye giving a black eye, trying to hide it. *Maybe have a stye and are trying to conceal it. *Maybe have a bad migraine in which light is very painful, so trying to keep some of the light away to tolerate still attending church.

When someone pray for long and feel close to god , there emotion work upon them and they show there love by crying It's like when you see a very close person who you are very attached to, after a long time or like when u see your favorite celebrity. so is the case with this women, she cries and don't want people to see. I bet she wears real big one

Her eyes might be super sensitive to light, either from disease or damage or recent surgery, and her doctor prescribed her to wear sunglasses during daylight.
I suppose she might also either not want to be recognized (can't fathom why) or she might easily cry during service and doesn't want to have people notice.
I can't think of any religious reasons for wearing sunglasses.

Why would there be any spirituality behind it? Perhaps there's no reason at all and you should just mind your own business.
