I have an AKC registered Sheltie puppy named Sonny. Can anyone give me some ideas for what to use as his official AKC name on his paperwork?

Sonny Bone-O The Bark Goes On

In case you're too young for the reference, Sonny Bono was a very famous musician who played with Cher, and Sonny and Cher wrote an autbiographical book called "And the Beat Goes On"

AKC names are usually 2-3 names long. You could try:

Sonny Boy Lastname
Mr. Sonny Lastname
Sonny the Tough Sheltie
Sonny's Last Stand

When we get around to registering our dog, he is going to be Lieutenant Jake Ourlastname, if that helps. We just call him Jake. I knew a friend with dogs named Sergeant Levi TheirLastName, and Clyde's Crimson Tide (their dogs went by Levi and Clyde). They named them such because Levi walked around pompously, like a drill sergeant, and Clyde had red fur. We will name our dog such because my husband was a firefighter, and a "Jake" is an experienced firefighter, and my husband used to be a lieutenant on a volunteer fire dept.

Just use something that reminds you of Sonny, or your own past history, to come up with a unique cute name that it easy for you to remember.

Usually the breeder wants his/her kennel name first say:
Daisyhill puppy name
Now since the registered name doesn't actually have to include the call name but its nice to have them sorta related you have an infinite number of choices

Daisyhill Bright Sunshine
Sun Moon and Stars
Other side of the Sun
Favorite Son
Prodigal Son

Usualy AKC names have to be long and complicated like:

Harle thy Sonny of ichinbrow

Guess you could use whatever you wanted though.
