Saving batteries when not in use?

Question

As of 6/14 getting rid of land line service. Maybe for 3 months, maybe for 6 months. To save the battery as much as possible, do I take battery out of land line phone or leave it in and keep it charged with phone charger plugged into electrical outlet?

leave them in, if you take them out, there will never work again....
