i mean how would i use my unused ticket/ credit

Go online and find the flight you want to take, then call the airline reservation number, give them the information and get your ticket. You can not normally redeem a credit on-line.

Generally, for fully refundable tickets, wholly unused tickets expire one year after the date of issue. Partially used tickets expire one year after date of first departure on ticket.

If it is a nonrefudable ticket, then you can exchange it for or apply credit toward another ticket, usually after paying a service charge. Check with the airline. Many airlines require that the ticket must be exchanged by earlier of 90 days after first missed flight date or within one year after ticket issue date if the whole ticket was unused. Check with your airline to be sure.
