For example I'd like to see a waterproof, shock resistant and solar powered mobile phone invented - incidently, I believe Nokia did invent a solar powered mobile phone - but it seemed to die a death - anyone know which one I'm talking about and can give me a weblink showing this model?

See - something like that - a useful invention that hasn't or doesn't appear to have been invented yet?

Always I have been thinking about a dark source...exactly opposite to the light source. ie when that dark source kept in open space in daylight and switched on the area around it will be dark. The area darkened depends upon the power of the dark source. This idea may look like littltle eccentric. But it will be very useful in wartime like making black out in emergency. Let young talents think of it.

I personally have always been fascinated with space travel, so I would love for something to be invented which would enable humans to travel to and possibly colonize other worlds. However, considering it takes six months to get to Mars, our best chance of colonization so far, we would need to find a way to get there a lot faster. (also, the nearest star is four light-years away, which further emphasizes my point.)

I would like to see wall-sized LCDs (liquid crystal displays) that would cover the entire walls in houses so that any atmosphere or background or setting, like a desert isle with ocean could be displayed with appropriate sound effects, simply by running software on a computer. Different effects for each room, of course. Imagine sitting in your living room and having an active beach/ocean setting and the sound of the surf or crashing waves around you. Let's call it "Surround Video" for marketing purposes. Sounds cool to me.
