I just acquired 4 new speakers, 2 Kef Model 104/2, and 2 Kef Model 103/4. I don't have a receiver or an amplifier... I am looking to buy both and was wondering if anyone had advice. I don't have a lot of money to spend, but i know if I don't spend enough the speakers will be wasted... So I'm trying to stay under 1000$ Thanks

Hi. Is this intended for a dedicated sound system without surround sound and if so are you going to use all of your speakers or just two of them. If you can let me know i will be able to suggest a decent amplifier .Also what are you going to use for your source (CD player DVD/CD player,Tuner,or Turntable.Thanks.

The KEF 104/2 speakers you have are very revealing and require the best amplifier you can afford to do them justice.

Here are 3 amps that are very good if you just want stereo.

JUST REMEMBER A BETTER AMP. WILL GIVE YOUR SPEAKERS A BETTER SIGNAL TO GIVE YOU A BETTER SOUND
DONT BUY A CHEAP RECEIVER YOU WONT WANT THE TUNER PART. A CHEAP PREAMP WILL ONLY GIVE YOU A BAD SOUND.

DENON PMA 2000IVR (about $1200)
NAD C372 (about $900)
ROTEL PRE-AMP/POWER AMP COMBO (about $1240)

You can probably get these a lot cheaper by shopping around
The separate pre and power amp combination (ROTEL) is really good for the money.

Here are the specifications for the NAD amp

I would recommend a Pioneer Elite VSX 82. I own one and have been very happy with the features and sound quality. I use some B&W speakers, similar to KEF. They run about $1100.00

You should get an inexpensive receiver that has PREAMP outputs...Then you can add 2 or 3 stereo amps to it for "effortless" surround sound...I recommend stereo receivers with AM/FM tuners and volume controls...They cost less than stand alone amps...Don't forget a CENTER speaker to set on your TV.

For television in a small room: 5.a million encompass sound equipment with small satellite tv for pc audio equipment. For any length room, song sounds a lot extra positive on a house stereo equipment than it does on a encompass sound equipment.

I would suggest a Dennon receiver. You should be able to find one for your needs for about $500. You can take the other $500 and get a good sub-woofer. Then you'll have a real Home Theater.

I agree with some here, go with one of three brands, Denon, Rotel, OR Adcom. I have owned all three and loved them all.
I love more adcom for straight music and I have Denon for my home theatre. They will have varieties in all ranges of money.
