My son is 14 months old and has over the last 48 hours been pooping about 7 times a day. They haven't been large bowel movements, but they aren't small either. It's not runny, it's not even really loose as much as it is softer than usual, so he definitely doesn't have diarrhea. Now true the previous week he had mostly pellets/formed balls when he pooped and he has had a few different food lately, but 7 times a day!?!? He doesn't seem to be teething at the moment and he doesn't drink juice often. I just want to know if this is normal for some kids. Sorry to sound so gross or paranoid, but this is my first child and I'm not always 100% positive of what's normal sometimes, lol.

He eats very well rounded meals and snacks, not any junk. He eats a lot and he's a skinny little thing! It just seems strange to me that all of a sudden he's pooping so much.

sounds like your son has a high metabolism. my younger daughter is like that! it's like everytime she eats, 10-20 min later, out it comes the other end! she's got her dad's metabolism!!

hope you've got plenty of diapers!!!

Don't worry to much I am a mom of 3 and yes it is normal for about 3 times but if u try new food only try a few some times food can be hard on the stomach. If your child has pelits they are having a hard time going, give the child apple juice about 4-6 oz in the morning and again around lunch or a snack time then see if it helps but try not to let the child go for long they might be in discomfort from it. How ever as long as they are not loose he should be o.k. I would also watch if he plays with his ears some time they have an infection like a small cold and might just be getting rid of it. Just in case maybe increase water intake. If you are starting to ween on to milk u might want to make sure he is not lactose intalerant 2 out of my 3 are and it started with loose stool then a rash if they had to much.

When you feed a child new foods they will usually have an effect on his stools. What were the foods? That is important. Maybe they just did'nt agree with his digestive system. have 2 children and they both did the same thing. If he is not sick, it has to be what and how much he is eating.

have him checked over by the doctor to put your mind at rest because this is unusual for your son, although not unusual for babies in general. i have a feeling he has just learned he can control his bowel so he holds it for a bit and then lets go and then holds a bit more! my son suffered really bad constipation at a similar age and the health visitor explained this was why.

It sounds more like a diet problem.

Try more fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Give it a week, and that should straighten him out.
