I don't like eating in front of the TV. It makes for mindless eating. Mindless eating is when you are eating but not really being mindful of how much or even taking the time to savor each bite. People tend to eat more, faster, and gain weight while doing this. The most common place for mindless eating is in front of the tv. Besides, the kitchen table is for eating. I bought it for that, so I want to use it for that. I think it's important. It's just how I was raised I guess.

The only time I eat anything away from the dinner table is when I have a midnight snack--I usually stand over the sink and eat. Other than that, we eat all our meals at the kitchen table. We can talk about our day, current events, etc. Plus I have two toddlers, so we *have* to eat there, lol. Even when they're older, we'll still eat at the table. Who wants to sit in front of a TV like a zombie when you can actually spend time with and talk with your family?

well my kitchen table has the computer on it so there is no room to eat at it. Mostly I eat in front of the tv (even if it's not on). On holidays and every once and a while just for the heck of it, I eat at the dining room table.

No we never do. Everyone at my house eats where ever they want some in front of the T.V., some in their rooms, and some else where never at the table. I think it's a bad thing because it makes communication just that much harder. I wish the family would sit and eat at the same table for just one meal instead of all over the place.

haha that's funny you should ask this question. I think I probably eat at my kitchen table 5 times a year! The rest of the time is divided by in front of the tv and in front of the computer.

I always ate at the kitchen table with my kids. My husband worked weird hours for the first 20 years we were married so he usually ate in the living room in front of the tube. Now that the kids are grown and married and hubby works days, I eat at my desk or the kitchen table and he eats in front of the tube.........some things never change.

We very rarely eat in the living room. We most often eat at the dining room table, as a family.

I live in a household where where everyone one has different food problems . This means I mostly fix a seperate meal for every person. I let them all eat elsewhere, To me its a relief that The one on a diet isn't crying that everyone has more, or sneaking extra food from his sister's plate. and that the low salt person isnt able to get ahold of the shaker or the butter etc when im not looking. Now after serving food my only responsibilty is to keep an eye on who gives what to the begging dog.

When I was a kid, my entire family ate at the kitchen table....no television, no phone...just dinner as a family. We did that for years. As I grew older and got my own place, and got married, my wife and I eat in the livingroom while watching tv.
