Are their any operating systems that can be laoded onto a ps3 other than the one already on it and where can I find them?

I think you can install Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu
Definintely Linux though

yes, the 3 main ones are linux yellow dog (what I have), fedora core, and ubuntu. You can download them or buy them from ebay cheap. (thats is where i got mine) To download them, I recommend this site:
