She probably has similar feelings about you. You two do not need to have a relationship - the only way you are connected is through the son. It is easier to balance relationships for the son of course if you two got along. Often problems with mothers in law is about control - usually over the son. Are you a controlling person? Very hard to self evaluate - ask your friends! It makes it harder if mom-outlaw is also a controlling person as the one caught in the middle is the son and as they say blood is thicker than water ..........guess who is the loser.
Often sons will partner someone who is very similar to their own mother so you might be looking at the mirror in a way - and not liking what you see. Just a thought..

Oh, I didn't like the late step-mother-in-law, either. DH and I used to call her Ol' Mama Bin Laden.
I used to go to a site and read stories about in laws who seem to be a lot worse than OMBL was, and it made me feel better.
That site also has a forum if you want to vent.:)

If you hate her that much, maybe you should deal with her on a need-to basis. Only when you need to!! That is how I deal with my own mother and sisters. I only talk to them when I need to. That is the best way that I have learned to deal with all of them.

Wow...I never knew kids could hate so much, but theres really nothing you could do. You must deal with her. Why don't you like her? Talk to someone you know about her and explain how she's making your life hell.

let me put it this way...you don't HAVE to do anything if you don't want to. only other people may try and make you by using family as an excuse. my only suggestion is to put as much distance between you and your mother in law as much as possible.
