Ok I'm trying to remember this correctly. Christians believe that the second coming of Jesus will result in 1,000 years of peace and Jews believe that the coming of Christ will result in us being saved. Is that right?

For Christians- if Christ was meant to bring about peace on Earth then how come we don't have it?

For Jews- What do you believe about the coming of Christ? Do you believe we need two Savior comings before the 1,000 years of peace?

I am simply curious and am NOT trying to attack either religion. I just can't remember from my Christian days.

I may have written it wrong but I meant that he would BRING peace not follow peace.

Sorry for the cut-and-paste which follows, but it gives a good explanation of what we Jews believe. By the way, we don't call the messiah "Christ". That's strictly a Christian term. And no, we don't think there need to be two comings, just one.

What Will the Moshiach Do?

The moshiach will bring about the political and spiritual redemption of the Jewish people by bringing us back to Israel and restoring Jerusalem (Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 23:8; 30:3; Hosea 3:4-5). He will establish a government in Israel that will be the center of all world government, both for Jews and gentiles (Isaiah 2:2-4; 11:10; 42:1). He will rebuild the Temple and re-establish its worship (Jeremiah 33:18). He will restore the religious court system of Israel and establish Jewish law as the law of the land (Jeremiah 33:15).

Olam Ha-Ba: The Messianic Age

The world after the messiah comes is often referred to in Jewish literature as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the World to Come. This term can cause some confusion, because it is also used to refer to a spiritual afterlife. In English, we commonly use the term "messianic age" to refer specifically to the time of the messiah.

Olam Ha-Ba will be characterized by the peaceful co-existence of all people (Isaiah 2:4). Hatred, intolerance and war will cease to exist. Some authorities suggest that the laws of nature will change, so that predatory beasts will no longer seek prey and agriculture will bring forth supernatural abundance (Isaiah 11:6-11:9). Others, however, say that these statements are merely an allegory for peace and prosperity.

Not all Christians, only a smaller sect known as Fundamental Dispensationalism, believe that there will be a literal 1,000 year kingdom on earth.

This is a broken theology, both Biblically and Traditionally. Most Christians, which include Catholics and most Episcopalians and Lutherans, subscribe to what is called "amillenialism" or some form thereof. The Catholic Church teaches that the 1,000 years spoken of in the Bible is not a literal 1,000 years, because of the use of apocolyptic literature which is wrought in symbolism. Thus, the symbol "1,000" as a number just means "a very long time." So, the 1,000 year period is the "Church age" of God's earthly Kingdom here on this world, which is the Church of the Living God, the Holy Catholic Church.

Stay away from premillenial dispensationalism, this is false doctrine which the Church has declared cannot possibly be taught safely. The main reason this theory is wrong (among many others) is the fact that the Bible states that Christ will return to this earth ONCE after His resurrection. The premillenial dispensational theory believes, because of this literal 1,000 year period, that there will be a secret rapture of Christians (not in the Bible) and that Christ will have to come 1 or even 2 times after that - which is most definetely not Biblical because Scripture states that He will come again once.

Clarification.
1. The Jews accept Jesus as a 'good man' maybe even a rabbi; but not the Messiah (Christ).
2. Christians do believe he will came again.
Here is a difference between them presently. Jews and Christians have the listen to God, and have the '2 or more witnesses' principle.
However, many USA Christians apparently do not overcome it. If so, they would realize the scriptural old testament is the law of Moses, not Genesis-Maklachi, and may overcome what is commonly referred to presently as the Red Letter Edition. (The Lord (not lord) from Genesis-Malachi was the Lord Jesus Christ(Messiah).

I will just address the peace on earth thing.

First, it ain't what people would like it to be. The whole verse says, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests." This is from the New International Version, and according to the notes in the Study Bible, "Peace is not assured to all, but only those pleasing to God..." Then, "The Roman world was experiencing Pax Romana (Roman peace), marked by external tranquility. But the angels proclaimed a deeper, more lasting peace than that - a peace of mind and soul made possible by the Savior."

So, in a nutshell, knowing the Savior can give someone peace while yet on this turbulent earth.

Jesus didn't say he was going to bring peace. In fact, he told followers that he would cause strife between brothers and parents and their children. (I'm sure somebody will have the exact quote for you.) I've never heard this thing about Christ's second coming at the end of a thousand years of peace. In fact, even Jesus said he didn't know when this would happen; it was up to the father.

Christ came first as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world. And specifically said that his kingdom is not of this Earth. Which is why he didn't get involved in geo-political matters like the warlord Mohammed. Jesus the lamb offers those of us who live before his Thousand-Year-Rule PEACE in Heaven. Not here on Earth.

When he comes again, he comes as the Lion and his kingdom will be on this Earth for a thousand years. THEN there will be peace on Earth. Not before.

Jews believe in a coming Messiah, but that Jesus wasn't him. They're still waiting for the Messiah's FIRST arrival.

The "Peace" that Christ brought us is reconciliation with God. There is no greater peace than that. He did not come to give us "lack of conflict" or "can't we all just get along?" kinds of peace.

1000 years of Christ's reign

Christ didn't come the first time to make earth peaceful. He even said there'd be a lot of conflict because of Him. Jesus hasn't come again yet, so no millenial peace is assured

You had a difficult time trying to believe and understand when first you tried and the frustration and anger were more than one should have to attempt to put up with this is understandable if/when you wish to try again do not let the big picture bother you remember to take things in small easy to manage pieces learn a little at a time and pray for difficult things to be made easier, Remember little brother/sister all things are truly possible with enough belief and faith and it is in everyone of us - if we are brave enough & charitable enough - love in Christ. AMEN!

Christians also believe in the second coming of Christ. That is to say, the first time he came, he came as the suffering servant, here to die for the sins of mankind. There was no peace at that time because Jesus is waiting to return until everyone who is going to believe in him and repent has been saved.

The second time he comes it will be as the conquering hero. He will come to judge the living and the dead and permanently reign as king forever. At that time there will be total peace on earth because all those who desire to hurt, kill, and destroy will be separated and put into hell.
