As usual, people don't think about their beliefs.
IF God exists as an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being...
God is neither male nor female. To be one or the other would be a limit on his power (edit: note how I used the word "his" here, then it in the next sentence. I was trying to be neutral, but I failed because it is part of our thinking and language). It takes whatever form it likes. God is usually associated with the father figure for debatable reasons, and Jesus was Jesus (if he was the Messiah). Had to choose one in order to be one of us. However, his spirit would not be that of a man.
Furthermore, many languages use the masculine as neutral. This does not explain everything the Bible uses; hence, this is one reason I do not accept the Bible. A true God would be bound neither by genitalia nor sexual symbolism (i.e. father) because God would incorporate everything "good."
I'm tired of hearing these Christians go on about everything without thinking.

At the point in history when the Messiah came, women were very much looked down upon. (Even in our "progressive" society, the most powerful people are still men.) Jesus was very explicit in promoting the fact that women were human beings, deserving respect and reverence in a time when most men thought of them as just above cattle among their possessions. The first evangelists were women.
According to Roman Catholic teaching, Mary is our co-redeemer. Only by her being the holiest person to ever live at the time was the Messiah born. Throughout the gospel narratives, women play a key role.
Had the historical circumstances been right, the Savior could have been a woman, but through human sin, not by the will of God, women were subjugated. In Christ, the Apostle Paul tells us, there is no male nor female; we are all God's children.
(It is also noteworthy that in Christianity, a man is not the master of his own body; his wife is.)

Until now, it was unthinkable to have a woman prez. How then, in the beginning of AD could men even touch a woman let alone believe a word she said. Women were considered unclean, unreasonable and unwanted. Would you use an object of ridicule on stage to promote anything?
Wealth was also a factor, as the poor wouldn't consider themselves esteemed enough to listen, follow or meditate on something a rich man said. The teachings couldn't be for them! But an abased man come to teach everyone, not just to women, or the wealthy, now that would seem more logical.
It may have been considered, who knows?

¬Given that Jesus Christ was the Son of God... When Christ was put to death, he rose above the limitations of humanity. Christ was no longer male, nor was Christ female. Given this the messiah could be a woman. Christ was sent to the people in the form of a man because NO ONE would take a woman seriously during those days. Mary Magdalene is a perfect example.

The Old Testament has a considerable laundry list of qualifications for being the Messiah. Sorry, it's got to be a man.
By the way, Jesus of Nazareth born in Bethlehem doesn't meet all the criteria. That's why there are still Jews.

Because God chose a man to be. It' s something u have to accept. God makes the rules and we are under His authority.
It's like the speed limits...I think they are way too slow...and I feel like I'm counting blades of grass...but can I speed and then tell the police officer this. I am under the authority of the rules of the road with my license whether I agree to them or not.
God bless u,
Daniel
It's better if u r a woman, as the men in the Body of Christ are considered the Bridegroom of Christ. Somehow thinking of myself married to another man isn't that appealing. Thank God the Bible says there is no male or female in Christ Jesus.

She can be. There have been Female prophets, and probably female messengers as well, though a bigoted society woudlnot heve let their message stay very long. Yes the majority of messengers have been male, but Baha'u'llah says that if the next one is female, that in no way proves she is not of God, because man and woman are equal in the sight of the Lord.

The being calle the Messiah has already been chosen, and it wasn't a woman. Had it been, we would be worshiping Mary instead.
