What preparations are needed?
Do I have to buy a dress to wear at it or is there a way I can just rent it at the temple?
(I have no interest in actually wanting a perfect wedding, I would just like to get married and have the ceremony be over with so we can start our life together.)

I am LDS.
I just hate all forms of celebrations, including weddings. I would like to have the benefit of the temple marriage, just want to zone out the ceremony.

We're thinking about either the Manti Temple or the Provo Temple since they are the closest to us where we live in Utah.

You can just use your regular temple dress for the ceremony. If you don't have one, most temples rent them. Just ask for a dress. You don't need anything fancy. They allow you to wear a wedding dress as long as it is modest during the ceremony, but it is not needed.
You need to go in and talk to your bishop and then stake president you will need a living ordinance recommend. You will need your endowments, if you don't already. After you have met with the Bishop and stake president, then you just call the temple and set up a time. I don't know if you plan to invite people or not, but you will need two witnesses. Usually the fathers are the witnesses, any endowed priesthood holder can be a witness.
The ceremony is not showy at all. There is no pomp to it at all. It is just very simple. Don't zone out the ceremony. Pay attention to what the sealer is saying and then to the covenants you are making. It is a beautiful ceremony filled with beautiful covenants.
It is sad that you want to miss out on the fun of the day.

The LDS "relatives first" mantra isn't something yet a PR stunt. while you're a non-mormon or heaven forbid, a former mormon, you're generally avoided, disparaged, and excluded from the main substantial relatives gatherings which includes funerals (as a speaker) and weddings when you consider that they're interior the LDS-purely temples. maximum Mormons are not conscious that their temple rituals got here from the Masons or maybe LDS historians agree that Mason rituals have been invented interior the sixteenth century. So honest Mormons could desire to stand the incontrovertible fact that their rituals are ninety 5% masonic so why could God use that because of the fact the capacity to deliver them to Him and Godhood? maximum Mormons do no longer understand that anciently, with the Jewish temple, consumers got here to it to grow to be worth particularly than stay so that they could come. huge distinction. And it replaced into there that sacrifices (the metaphor of Christ's sacrifice) allowed them to be worth. So Mormons could desire to attempt against with the incontrovertible fact that their temples are not a restore of something Biblical, or maybe worse, their exclusionary approaches fly interior the face of recent testomony Christianity. examine Luke 18 for some grounding right here. additionally examine a million Cor 3 the place Paul says that now, we are the temple. Psuedo Christian cults are continually approximately administration and the LDS church is strictly that. And oddly, no longer even their founding prophet could have been deemed worth to go into the temples that Mormons enter right this moment.

Step one, talk to your bishop. That is the best source of information.
Temple weddings are simple and beautiful. At the temple you can have a "perfect wedding."
My temple dress was my wedding dress. It was very simple and I made it myself. That made it very special when I continued to go to the temple.
My daughter had the big fancy dress. It was hard with the big full skirt but it's a choice.
They have nice temple dresses you can buy. You can always use that as your wedding dress.
Good luck to you!

If you aren't LDS you can't be married in the Temple. You will have to convert to LDS to have a Temple Wedding. If you are a member of the church, then talk to the church.
