Hi, Maj...
Thanks for the question...
I'm glad to offer some ideas.
First, please try not to think that you weigh more than you should...
You may wish to look at your situation as a goal, but if you feel guilty, it will work against you eventually. Also, having a positive self-image will help you to work on and achieve all the things that are important to you... As you feel more confident, the effect will snowball in a positive direction.

Also, its important NOT to try to lose the weight too quickly...
As you may know, studies have shown that this kind of program results in the see-saw effect (which is even harder on the body).

What's important is to change the PATTERN that you eat for the rest of your life... Eating healthy, well-balanced foods, high in nutritious vegtables including many soups and salads and whole-grain carbs are important. Drinking water, tea, or coffee instead of (naturally or artificially) sweetened sodas will help. Do not deny yourself food!! This will only cause you to want/need even more later! Eating more nutritious, and more frequent small meals (when you are hungry) can help, as can snacking on whole foods such as apples, oranges, peaches, carrots, and mellons. Reducing the amount of meat you consume may help. Eating only what you want, instead of what you feel you need to finish, or what others want/expect you to eat are important... These may seem like small things, but what's important is for these to become permanent habits... Again, don't feel guilty if you don't change right away, but KEEP working on creating a better you!! Yes you can!!

Also, regular, ENJOYABLE exercise (walking, jogging, dancing, etc.) are very important, but many are very busy & exhausted at the end of the day... The important thing is to make time as often as you can, working toward a 3 or more day a week enjoyable routine of exercise... You ARE worth it!!

Last but not least is the emotional component...
It is vital that we take care of ourselves emotionally!
We do so much for others, but we need to respect our own needs as well... After all, we can be so much more effective when we feel successful. Paradoxically one of the best ways we can take care of ourselves is by encouraging others. We can do this by calling a friend or relative, or volunteering at a local school, home or shelter. Studies have shown that the happiest people are those that are valued and appreciated. We can do this to a surprising degree by volunteering.

All the BEST to you!! I know you can do it!!

First to stop eating all the CRAP that "she's" been stuffing herself with that caused her to gain 100 pounds. No more junk or fast food. No more sodas. No more sugar. Cut back on portions. Eat lean protein, vegetables, whole grains (cut out all "white" foods, like white bread) and fruit. In that order. And get out and at LEAST walk briskly for 1 hour every day. And I mean briskly. Put your BUTT into it. The weight will start coming off---guaranteed. And eat between 1,200 and 1,500 calories a day---no less than 1,200 or you'll be starving yourself and you won't lose ANY weight. Make small goals. Start with 10 pounds. When you hit that, then go for 10 more. If you say "I'm going to lose 100 lbs"., you will get frustrated very quickly, then you'll give up. Which you have probably done many times before...right? Oh, sorry.....I mean SHE has.

Eat 5-7 times a day, but very limited amounts.

Eat within 15 minutes of waking an apple or some veggies uncooked. At 10am again fruits or veggies.

At 1pm-ish a good meal with high protein, low carbs. Fish and some rice and veggies for example. Chicken and some baked potato with Italian dressing on the potato (tastes great) and veggies.

Then in the 4-5 o'clock range another fruit or veggie and again at around 8pm.

This process will increase the metabolism and kick it into gear and keep it running in high gear all day long.

Obviously exercise. Go for 20+ minute walks twice a day.

Drink about 1 gallon of pure water per day.

You can do it! Good Luck.

Well...first you need to realize that it's not only about appearance, it's about health. Make sure you have motivation because loosing that much weight would probably take a long time, and people don't typically like waiting.

In order to lose weight, you need to eat 3,500 calories less a week to lose one lb a week. Therefore, you must eat 500 less calories a day, or combine with exercise (Recommended).

In regards to diet, eat two servings of fruit a day (fruit has a lot of sugar, even though it is natural, three servings adds sugar you do not need). Eat vegetables in abundance because they provide the vitamins and minerals neccessary for your body to perform at it's best. Make the bulk of your diet whole grains and NO white flour! It's a simple carb that does your body no good! Wheat and Whole grains are complex carbs that provide your body with good energy. Try not to eat an excess amount of animal protein unless you have a palm sized serving of lean meat (chicken, turkey). Don't eat fried foods, because the excess fat is not healthy! Last but not least, don't eat candy and junk food, besides the occasional treat! Remember- eat to live, don't live to eat! To lose weight and tone up, you need to combine cardio and weight training. Start off slow, and progress week to week. If you don't eat 500 less calories a day, burn off the extra with cardio. Make it fun and listen to music to boost your energy! Starving yourself will never help! Make sure you do not miss any meals! Eat a big breakfast, medium lunch, and light dinner.

I'm 24 and I've lost over 100 lbs with going from 255 to 150.2, and I think one of the best places to go in order to assist you with your diet is Sparkpeople.com which is a free site. If you go there, make sure you say you were referred by namibia574.

And you can message me on their if you need help with anything.

If you want an answer simpler than than,

Cardio for @ least 30 minutes 6x a week
Strength training for 3 days out of the week.

It's all about calories taken in vs calories burned. For a diet you want to get with a nutritionist who can plan it out a little better. You need to figure out how many calories you are taking in before you do anything else. Track what you eat for a week: meals, snacks, drinks, everything, if it goes in your mouth write it down. Next you want to cut about 500 calories a day off that number, any more and your body will go into "starvation mode" and your metabolism will slow down and any food taken in will immediately be turned into fat. Stick with the food pyramid for a balanced diet.

Next get with a personal trainer for an exercise program. It does you no good to be skinny and out of shape (alcoholics and smokers aren't healthy, but they are skinny). You want to work out about 4 times a week for at least 20mins a workout. Mix it up between cardio and resistance training. It doesn't have to be in a gym either, it could be walking your dog or gardening. All you have to do is get your heart rate into the "fat burning" zone. 140bpm-170 bpm for 20 mins at a time will slim you down and get your heart healthy.

You want to talk to a doctor before starting any kind of diet or exercise plan.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
