I tried to incorporate past tense and past imperfect tenses for my elementary Spanish 2 homework. Please correct any mistakes you see…thanks a lot!

De nino, hice(preterite-yo form) muchas cosas. Yo andaba (imperfect preterite-yo) a la escuela muchas veces.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say with "andaba a la escuela..."

Cuando ERA (imperfect, irregular- from SER) niño, iba a la escuela (imperfect, irregular- from IR) todos los días. Después de salir de clases, hacía mi tarea (you did it more than once, I'm sure; imperfect, regular, from HACER). Después, ayudaba (imperfect, irregular- from AYUDAR) a mi mamá. En las noches jugaba (imperfect, irregular- from JUGAR) con mis amigos...

The problem is that you don't understand the tenses well enough to know what you are trying to say- everything in the first paragraph should be imperfect, because you did them repeatedly.

My suggestion is to change the SECOND paragraph, and make it into a "one time thing" a summer vacation that you went on/ remember(even though you, in reality, went every summer)...

Un verano, fuimos (preterite, irregular- from IR) a la playa en Cancun. Nadé (preterite, regular- from NADAR) en el oceáno Atlántico. Comí (preterite, regular- from COMER)oysteones. Me compré (preterite, regular, from COMPRAR)un reloj de plata. Nos divertimos (preterite, regular, reflexive- from DIVERTIRSE) mucho.

Well, the assignment question itself is not very clear, being that the "past tense" could be preterite or imperfect, but I'm assuming your teacher wants you to use preterite AND imperfect. However, in the sentences that you wrote, all of them should be imperfect because you are talking about an unspecified time (your childhood) and a repeated action (muchas veces = many times, cada verano = each summer). You need to change hice, hice, ayude, jugue, and mire to imperfect (hacía, hacía, ayudaba, jugaba, and miraba) but to use the preterite you need to talk about one specific activity or incident that you were involved in. For example: Un día, cuando tenía (imperfect because it is a description of your age) 7 años, me caí (preterite - I fell) y me rompí (preterite - I broke) la pierna...or something like that. Hope this helps!
